You may not like it, but nobody’s forcing you to go chase the bombers. You could just…ignore them and do another objective your plane is able to do.

That is quite literally the job of a fighter/interceptor… that IS the job they’re supposed to be able to do.

The problem is that it isn’t possible to inflict enough damage to bring them down. There are clips on YouTube of players in test/custom modes emptying their guns at point blank range and having to reload 3 times… all while the bomber is cooperative in being shot at. If you need 3+ ammo loads at point blank or 5+ missiles to kill a bomber then the Damage model is premium grade BS.

And don’t the vast majority of modern jets have pretty substantial amounts of ordinance they can equip in such situations?

I don’t play modern jets, and in props matches, on some maps, even armored targets run out and there’s literally nothing left to do but climb and wait for the timer to end.
