Just here to spread my love and appreciation for the best game ever made, God I Love War Thunder. Get #GILWTs goin viral! Yeah!! AND STOP COMPLAINING!
The heart and soul put into this game make me feel like a true warrior when I head gallantly into battle. The way each game takes five minutes to reach the battle, you really get a sense of flight as you hear your engines screaming fire when you elevate, or the smooth clacky rumble as you dive on a fool.
There is no way to explain to a newcomer how fun the game is, as you get farted on with the “Coughing-Baby Edition” P-26 and obscure tracked vehicles from the interwar period or the onset of the war. But in a sentence, a game like War Thunder hasn’t been replicated; this game will give you tens of thousands of hours of fast-paced, unique, loud, frustrating, and infinitely more rewarding content for free.
I have 4,024 hours in this game, and I have loved every second and will continue to play. I know a guy with well over 12,000 hours who is literally getting a pilot’s license. He’s insane at the game, but similar to a musical instrument, there are thousands of ways to play. I prefer AirRB, GroundRB, and NavalRB. This is the reason I spent my first thousand hours below rank V. I kept switching nations and trees, and I didn’t once think twice about it slowing my progress. I kept following my heart and had so much fun along the way. I mastered the Gladiators, I mastered the Spitfires, I have a few dozen hours in the Halifax, I stuck with the 4.0 Halifax in AirRB because the Stirlings suck and the Lancaster is butt-ugly (I had a sweet-spot I didn’t wanna lose). I continued through the Lincoln, mastering the Spitfire F Mk.XIVe and the Spitfire F Mk.22 before getting jets (This is all while getting planes in Israel, Sweden, America, Russia, I played a ton of GRB in the KV-2 and up to the IS-2, and fell in love with Naval). The Canberra A (without guns) is my favorite plane in the game. It flies like a dream, it turns stupid well for no reason, it has a perfect bomb load, it’s dumb fast, especially at the height it spawns at, and you can paint your wing-tips red and slam into people as I do; My K/D in that thing is not zero. As I moved through the jets, falling in love with various underrated’ns like the Meteors, Vampire, Hunter F.1, Javelin, Lightning, and am currently researching the Phantom FGR.2. In Britain, I earned the HMS Renown and am catching up with the York researched, and flanked with the Southhampton and Invincible. I received the Harrier GR.1 as a reward from a squadron, which I accompanied with the Hunter F.6 and Buccaneer & Friends, before purchasing a MiG-21 Bison for the holidays last year to match the Challenger 2 OES I bought earlier this year. Oh boy.
Buying your way into the game is a fun way to fuel Hungary’s GDP, and a funner way to spend your hard-earned shekels. For my first six hundred hours, the total amount of money I spent on the game was less than $20. As of this date, my total War Thunder expenditure is ~$1,450. The first plane I bought was the SU-25BM on the market for $25. Since, I’ve purchased the M1A1HC Clickbait, M4A1HC (Kate), F/A-18C (Early) preorder, F-14A IRIAF (on market for $80), F-4S, Kfir Canard, (earned) the Kfir C.10 and love it, the Jaguar E (market $55), Bought the JF-17 the minute it came out full-price, Mirage 2000C-S4 (market $25), F-104S TAF, Saab F-35, the entire Per adua ad astra set, SU-30MK2 preorder, Chajka, Su-11, Be-6, the EFV (i didnt get it in time :C, market $15), VIDAR, CV 9035DK, earned the Strv-103-0 from a squadron event (join a squadron, they’re fun :>), Sahariano, Independant, Challenger 2 OES, T-34-57 (1943), 2S38, unlocked the Object 292 from a seasonal goodie-bag, spent hundreds of hours earning the BMP-2M, T-72AV (TURMS-T), Su-33, Tam 2IP, finally snagged the Maus this year, Vilkas (market $25), Leopard 2 (PzBtl 123), He-219 A-7, LVT (A) (1) (M24), M4A5, T14, T29, and the lovely F-106 on the market for less than $20. It’s easy to spend a lot if you have it, and fun to see the amount of effort they put into this game every time you so much as test drive a vehicle. (If you want to know, my Nation customization shows: Canada, Argentina, Kazakhstan, South Africa, japan (havent touched it lol), Pakistan, Hungary, Netherlands, Denmark, Colombia)
This game is underappreciated because it has common game features that are often abused by the developers. Do you feel FOMO at the Battle Pass? Not much anymore because they specialized the Battle Pass for people who care a whole lot about kinda silly vehicles. I LOVE the Strikemaster Mk.88 and earned it with blood, sweat and tears. Premium time is required for kids with ADHD that can’t stand to play the game for real like a real man (I suffered through hundreds of hours being a poor kid and you should too), being sent into 10.3 games at 3.0 by my friends, getting there myself and being better than him, all of the shit you deal with builds you into a good player. Buy your way up if you’re bored, and optionally get the yearly premium when it’s on sale for a great deal. I hear so many kids scream and yell about “predatory tactics.” Nah. No way. It’s a lack of understanding of realistic goals. One tech tree takes a year to grind. If you want tanks and planes to go with them, you have to get used to Air RB. Helicopters? You’re in luck because helicopter battles are an empty event (DONT GET ME STARTED ON ENDURED CONFRONTATION, WE SPENT 2 HOURS IN QUEUE AND 2 HOURS DRIFTING TO BATTLE), but to research helicopters quickly, you need to sacrifice your tank research to the wind gods. This game has semi-realistic drawbacks to quick progress because it would get old quickly. It’s a free game; they let you play it fully for free. It only becomes a jet-fighter game when you pick a favorite and spend that $60-80; it’s free and more gratifying if you put in the work. I sound like an old man yelling at the clouds.
People complain about every single update, they have group-thinky psychotic expectations for a small team (that makes gobbs of money) for every vehicle. The MiG-25 was so hated on trailer release, but test server gameplay is flawless and realistic. It’s the russian F-104 as they made it, and as they made it, terrified the Americans LMAO.
Stop ye wingin’, get a job and toss them a few shillings.
Rules are kinda vague, on my eighth ban, my name even violates the naming rules, I’ve spoken to admin, signing my name stupidly, and even mentioning it, so it seems they interpret the rules as fairly as possible.
Read the Code of Conduct, report racists without countering with other offensive shit, it’s a 12+ game, as it’s always been. It doesn’t include blood or anything possibly construed as suggesting kids to kill people, other than it being flawless international military propaganda. Don’t make a swastika with decals (you can’t because the game has 4 max), don’t drop the MiG slur or say hateful shit! Let Jesus take the wheel.
Okay, I did your stupid ad, gaijin, give me my money.
Warmly,
ITouchMyself
