You have good mobility, not really a downside there
Really trolly armor, again no real downsides there.
Only major downside to Russian ground is the gun depression
With all these you can’t really lose…

My tip is abandon it, the TT is mid. Sweden have best top tier MBTs.
Stop playing the 3 main, minor tech tree are more fun than those.

I’d rate it better than Sweden until atleast rank V in GRB.

Air: Go for the Yakovlev and MiG lines mostly, LA line is good in props too though. Yak and La have the best props MiG has the best jets.
Ground: You have speedy tanks with good armour, or good armour big gun. T-34 is going to be your child between 3.3 and 5.7, you should treat it as one, take it on long walks through the maps, flanking and having fun with it by annoying the enemy (killing). Don’t take frontal engagements in the T-34 unless it’s something like a Panzer IV which you can go through the turrets (hull plate too on earlier models), if you come face to face with a Sherman try to keep your hull angled and wiggle your turret, your enemy will go for your turret cheeks 8/10 times. If it’s an M4A1/M4/M4A4 then at close range you can go through the front plate, or go through the turret cheeks (avoid the mantlet), With the M4A2/3 aim at the MG port (volumetric might be an issue) or the turret cheeks. That’s my low tier advice.

There is alot more to the tree than just top tier, especially for Russia.
His comment makes no sense either, Russia is one of the best nations at top tier in GRB.

That’s… Not true at all… It’s an amazing TT, with very good vehicles… And I’ve had a blast playing it so far…

WW2 use the ammo with more explosive filler and more angled pen but less flst pen.
Planes sacrifice armament and ammo for flight performance, so they are the least fun planes to fly for new/low skill pilots because they will constantly be hindered by ammo count, and their fighters are awful CAS so its kinda boring to fly them in grb without anyone to dogfight.
Russia isnt really that good imo until around 8.0 at least compared to germany and US. Historically that sort of makes sense I guess with cold war russia putting so much into devolpment of military stuff.
T series modern tanks like the t80 and 72 variants we have cause an immense amount of asshurt because these tanks punish bad players the most. Thing is against good players the advantages you have evaporate and your stuck in a tank with half the fun depression. Worse reverse, worse fcs etc… Getting a downtier in the t80ud and fighting bad players might be the only high tier heavy tank expierence that exists.
IMO just stuck with germany, you get a lot of good soviet stuff and still has the capability to. Germany is probably the best tree to “main”.
1.0-5.7 they’re pretty good, 6.0-6.7 not that good, 7.0-7.7 they’re alright kinda mid, 8.0-11.7 they’re really good.
You will have tough times with gun depression and reload speed through the entire tech tree. My advice, when you get rank VI skip 9.0-10.0 BR’s, and play mainly T-55AMD and BMP-2 - they are that good compared to other tech tree vehicles.
Far from amazing, far from good, it’s mid. I’ve spent most of my time in USSR and it’s not that good as people says.

I don’t advocate spending on this game really but you could do worse than buy the KV1-E
