Maybe i am wrong and i am open to get told i am wrong, but with the addition of the AIM120D you are forced to defend more aggressive when any f18, f16 or f15 shoots are you as it might be a 120D.
Because if i have the choice to defend aggressively and get my self in a way worse position or waste a few missiles to close the distance, I think its clear what the objectively better choice is
120D sucks balls, it’s not any harder to notch than any other missile.
you’re more likely to die to an AIM-120A/B than an AIM-120D

The dangerous bit is probably more likely an Aim-120 (any aim120) being supported by an AESA radar (which all the D carriers are) than the Ds themselves. For the most part, they aren’t really that much more dangerous than the C5s. Just more efficient
