in the last few weeks guns have been zeroing themselves for no reason at all, and in My latest recording it even zeroed to the left for some reason. this shouldn’t be a thing.
care to show that recording? I personally havent noticed anything
Your left you say, hmm heh heh hmm sounds like parallax from gunnery sight to bore, sure you didn’t accidentally turn on true gunner sight in options?
I always play with True gunner sight on since finding out that it keeps the Abrams and other MBTs alive for way longer (about 13 Months ago if I remember correctly), so I’m used to the parallax, anyways
what I mean with this post is that I’ve literally witnessed My shots fly either far up above my crosshair with sight distance set to 0, or way too far to the right or left for no reason at all.
I have no idea how they managed to mess up a perfectly fine working sight to the point where this happens. (if it works don’t touch it Gaijin devs who may or may not care about this when reading / hearing about this)
as of today I’ve decided to just start playing with the normal barrel sight until this bug is fixed.
I have footage of Me showcasing it in the Test range and I wish I knew how to post it here
Alright here it is, I took this footage from one of My vids. this happens on every tank at random with the “Camera from tank gunner sight” option
Never heard about this care to elaborate?
Strange, make a bug report i guess
I think they mean on many vehicles the gunner’s sight is above the gun’s bore axis, often on the roof of the turret. So its possible to aim at targets while technically “turret down”, but since you can shoot thru the top layer of the map mesh, you can often make shots while concealed. Its an alternate way of doing the shooting from bino view trick.
how?
it’s the Sim gunner sight, otherwise known as “Camera from tank gunner sight”
most NATO tanks have the gunner sight mounted on the roof, most RB players never use this but I do as it severely decreases the chance of You dying in a sniper fight. (You can hide Your entire tank except for said optic)
it’s a bit like the Commander sight and it’s very useful when the enemy shoots out Your commander as You still have an optic at the same height if that happens.
the normal barrel sight:
the Gunner optic on top of ALL M1 Abrams variants except for the XM1 (by General Motors which has it on the sideturret)
Overall height difference between the Barrel and Gunner optic is highly important on every tank
both FP SCs were taken in the same position.
Here’s also an example on the T90M btw
Barrel POV
Gunner sight POV
thank You alot for reading through it
Hey this was likely due to a subtle effect of the “Camera from tank gunner sight” option.
When you set range (either manually or with LRF) your barrel will adjust to that specific range setting. But when the “Camera from tank gunner sight” option is enabled, you’ll get a different barrel adjustment depending on which view mode you’re in.
This can cause your shots to go unexpectedly right/left or high/low based on how optics and crew are spaced around your vehicle.
Interestingly, you’ll even get different barrel adjustments when you zero or reset your range. In your clip you likely zeroed in third person at some point, causing your barrel to adjust. It kept that adjustment until you set range again from gunner sight.
You can get some pretty wild adjustments from third person view.
I tried explaining this in a forum post. I think gaijin should change this behavior.
