ok, so… let me explain… i do know that you can switch radar to irst to aim manually and i have gotten a few kill like that, headons, tailgates, etc.
but… how do i use fireflash missiles with radar instead? i wait for a lock on, get in range, and they just go in a random direction or they target themselves
what do?
You need to manually guide it
thats the thing, when using irst it works fine, but when radar is on its like its got a mind of its own and goes in a random direction, its clear it has some self guiding capabilities
Pro tip, if you leave the radar set to the rangefinder mode it acts like a radar guided missile.
thats what im trying to do, i dont know why my missile goes in a random direction with radar on, when i hit alt+ f and go into irst mode only it works fine
I wouldn’t recommend you to rely on early radars
So if you have the radar type displaying that is a circle, you will be able to guide the missiles as they are intended to function.
However if you launch the missile while in the little line radar display then it will only track enemies in a fairly narrow area when they pop up on the radar.
Otherwise if you launch in this mode the missile locks itself and flies off at random.
how to i stop it from untracking the enemy and tracking itself?
like it tracks the enemy, and once i shoot it, it automatically chances target to itself and deviates off course
also the radar is incredibly inconsistent, sometimes it detects at like 2.50km sometimes its <1km
As long as the enemy remains in sight of the rangefinder it won’t track itself.
Fireflash can not lock to anything. It uses the radar coming from your plane to stay in the center of your line of sight. There is no irst/radar lock.
As the radar spreads out and gets weaker, the missile will be harder to control.
Turn the gun radar off. The gun radar will confuse the missle tracking and make it go out of control
Wrong.
What do you mean?
Fireflash can not lock to anything. It uses the radar coming from your plane to stay in the center of your line of sight. There is no irst/radar lock.
I mean this is wrong. Fireflash acts like a radar guided missile while something is being tracked by the radar rangefinder.
It is beam riding, not semi-active radar homing. It uses a radar beam from your plane to center it self in front of you
Listen, you’re wrong. Go into test range right now and do what I described.
Tried 4 missiles and they followed the nose of my plane instead of the jet on my radar
You’re doing it wrong or lying because I have just been doing it and it tracked fine every time.
Dont know what else to tell you. Got the jet on my radar, moved my nose a little to the right while keeping them on my radar and fired. Missile kept in front of my nose rather than follow the jet on radar
