Hybrid BR for ground vehicles depending on ammo selection

What if a vehicle’s battle rating could dynamically adjust based on the ammunition it brings into battle?

This idea came to me while thinking about the Leopard 2A4 receiving DM33. While giving it DM33 at its current BR would be unbalanced, a possible solution could be introducing a slight BR increase (say, +0.3 to +0.7) when equipping higher-tier rounds. This would open up the potential for broader lineup flexibility without breaking balance.

Many vehicles in War Thunder share the same cannon but are restricted by different shell options purely for balancing purposes. A dynamic BR system based on ammunition could preserve balance and give people more choice. Another addition could be that tanks with only stock rounds could sit slightly lower in BR, allowing for a easier stock grind. I don’t think it would be a great idea but just something to add on.

This system wouldn’t just improve realism, it could significantly enhance lineup diversity, especially for nations or BR ranges that currently feel limited. It’s a flexible approach that respects balance while giving players more control over how they build their lineups.

I’m sure I’ve seen this very same topic multiple times. Gaijin already has the answer to this issue - adding stock APFSDS to tanks. They just need to expand that to more high tier vehicles. Otherwise everything else is fine. Stock APDS is fine. Maybe remove the stock APCR from USA 90mm.

In fact, the vehicles I have in mind if this was implemented is something like the M247 or WZ305, which are at their BR because of HE-VT, but are subpar to SPAA 0.7-1 BR below it without it. Again, Gaijin could fix this by adding the HE-VT stock or at least making it a Rank I modification.

This would ban changing ammo in-match so no.

omw to fight tiger 1s in a mk10 centurion with only HESH

you fool, what makes you think 105mm HESH is worthy of killing reserve tier tanks.

Loading HEAT only and taking my King Tiger H to 3.0 to remind ppl Germany Suffers

I mean in game its functionally almost a saladins 76mm HESH which would be sufficient to kill a tiger tank
