The tanks became available in December 2023, and it is almost the end of February 2024. It’s strange to see this protection just lying around in a warehouse. Considering also that this additional armor protection was offered to Qatar at the exhibition, but it is not on the final version.
I don’t think that a state like Qatar could not afford additional protection, given that they have one of the most expensive and innovative versions
Tbf it doesn’t make any sense to outfit them with it.
The UrbOPS package is additional weight that you would need to carry around, it makes sense to keep it inside their inventory till it’s needed, due to transportation, fuel consumption and additional stress on the suspensions.
It’s true, although a little time has passed, at this moment there is no evidence that such additional armor protection even exists in Hungary. Otherwise, someone would have taken a photo of this, so I’ll wait for more information from somewhere
Is programable ammunition a feature in the game? The closest thing i can recall to programable ammo for tanks is timed fuse HE and proxy.
There are some photos of Leopard 2A7+'s with what looks to be the same armor kit (though lacking the additional slat on the rear)… though something tells me this wont be enough for Gaijin.
I’ll have to take your word for that, cause I cant find em.
I thought I made it clear earlier in the post that the HU is based on the +, but distinct from it. To quote my own post: “The Leopard 2A7HU is basically a Leopard 2A7+ that has been built by Krauss Maffei, and modified to better fit Hungarian specifications”
The reason Included the quote from KNDS is because much of the HUs exact features which set it apart from other 2A7s is of course classified. But since we do know its at least based on the +, what info we do know about the + could be used as a reference for the vehicles capabilities if added to the game.
I’ll probably make an edit to this post correcting some errors and or including any additional info I think would be worth including. though for now I’m gonna wait for more comments before I do so.
Its estimated that Hungary’s tank order wont be completed until anywhere between 2025-2028, so unfortunately we will juts have to wait and see if they actually did obtain any urban warfare kits.
Jup its the time programmed rounds, the implementation is soooo bad, best example infamous Ahead, i am just generaly using the fact to annoy / tease @PacketlossRedux
Yeah counts as completly differenr tanks
I mean u can look at the PSO in game, will look later if i find another picture
That is the thing, if you look for it, i think they normaly say its based on the 2a7v not the 2a7+
They dont realy are that much different , we are well aware of the stuff that sets them apart, RCWS
Roof armor
The side add ons maybe, those are the main things, the others are only slightly minor things but it doesnt have new transmission or sth like that
If your refering to the in game Leopard 2 PSO, that tank has a completly different armor profile than the armor kit I showed in this post. With the in game one having a clear gap to fit the smoke launchers, but the one on this post lacking such space.
Every single source I read which mentions what the HU is based on, they always say its based on the 2A7+. I have yet to come across any sources which refer to it as being based on the A7V. If you wanna see for yourself, look at the sources I provided and do a word search for “2A7+” and 2A7V"
Some sources do briefly mention the HU has “improved mobility” but sadly never go much further than that. I do know the 2A8 is said to have improved mobility compared to earlier Leo variants, and that the 2A8 is based on the HU, so it could be possible those two share similar modifications to mobility… However I decided not to include that in my post as those claims are shotty at best, and are just a bit too speculative
If someone knows a bit more about the mobility aspect of this vehicle Id love to see it
what u might be forgetting that the 2a7hu needs the space either way, the APU would be in the way of directly monting it to the side as well. Besides that they would need to demount the smoke launchers every time , thats a terrible design if that would be needed
that stuff is named in the leopard books, which we use for the other leoaprds as well, the 2a7q and 2a7hu are explained in those as well, i would take those as more reliable as the news articles
Thats quite easily explained lol, the 2a8 is getting an engine upgrade to offset the additional weight of the trophy system. The 2a8 is supposed to get the europower pack that the PSO has equipped as well.
And will be the only leopard in service with that engine
absolutly not, its the same armor add on like PSO or strv122b+. It is essentialy only realy effective against HEAT, in some cases a bit against auto cannon but most of the time people hate it rather because it slows down the tank because of the additional weight
