Autocannon vehicles also have long darts if you look at the animation of the projectile, but that doesn’t mean they use the same preset as main cannon rounds. I’m not really keen to dig around, so I took the comment from that video, so take it with a grain of salt.
60mm APFSDS is using a different spall preset in the first place, the 25-76mm APFSDS spall preset, which innately has worse spall overall. Its low pen doesn’t help either, but the 25-76mm preset has more in common with APCR, where in addition to residual penetration which every single spall preset uses, it also has its spall count dependent upon mass.
If this is true, HSTV-L’s round will never spall as good as M774 due to weight difference.
That being said, I don’t really think it should go anywhere and definitely not to 11.3, as it’s obviously performing okay at 12.0.
Firstly, those other light tanks can’t even face those Leopard 2’s to begin with thanks to them falling outside the maximum BR spread, so I’m not sure what your point is.
Secondly, you’re agreeing with me that the HSTV-L struggles to deal with 12.7 vehicles, yet you’re still arguing that it should go up in BR? These things are contradictory.
Thirdly, it doesn’t matter how fast or small the HSTV-L is, the problem is that it’s APFSDS cannot reliably damage a Leo 2A7/Strv122 regardless of what angle you’re facing it from.
It’s a problem that stems from it’s APFSDS being coded as small calibre, same as a AUBL 74 HVG.
I disagree. I played this thing with the free vehicle slot and I’m by no means good at top tier. If anything im absolutely dog shit 🙃🙃🙃. and playing the HSTVL I immediately got 3 kills on the Japan map. and one of those was after being pushed into enemy fire by a teammate. Just because something doesn’t immediately match your play style doesn’t mean its a bad tank/pane whatever or that its overtired. just play it for a bit and learn how to actually play it. but take this with a grain of salt like I’ve said I’m not very good at the game in general. (unless its 6.7-7.7 Germany).
If the map allows for it which I find to be the biggest drawback of the HSTVL. CQC maps gets rid of a lot of advantages from the HSTVL and it would be a lot better to bring out the Abrams.
If bigger maps are more common, then my opinion on the HSTVL would change but as of now, it’s situational.
While it’s understandable to express disagreement, it’s important to remember that personal experiences in a game can vary greatly from player to player. Just because you found success with the HSTVL on a particular map, doesn’t necessarily make it a universally good choice for everyone. Many aspects, such as gameplay style, map dynamics, and player skill levels, influence how a vehicle performs in a game. Critiquing others based on a single experience might not reflect the broader potential of the tank or plane. As you also noted, gameplay skill and familiarity with specific tiers or nations can significantly impact perceptions. It’s always beneficial to adapt and learn, but balancing that with an understanding of diverse experiences can lead to more productive discussions. Remember, games are complex, and so is player feedback.
