Howdy, This post is mainly to see what all of your guys ideal progression should be in WT.
Would you like it to be faster? easier? Perhaps having a different type of progression all together?
Currently when researching most tanks above rank 5 the Average F2Player will make about 3-5k in RP in a winning match for said tanks. (Gonna use the bottom average)
With a rank 7’s 300k Rp requirement, That is 100 matches, each lasting about to less then 20minutes or 33.3 Straight hours of grinding to unlock one vehicle if you’ve won every single one of em. If we say you lose half then it would look more like 50 hours of game play.
(With premium time more or less slicing time grinding in half )
I’m gonna put a few poll’s down to see what yall would prefer.
For Free to play players, How long should grinding a vehicle at each rank last? (Perferably)

And for the people with premium and premium tanks, What would you guys like progression to look like?
I think we need another rp reduction. It has been a while since the last one.
We can’t spend 1000 hours to grind an entire tech tree. It’s too much
Maybe half would be good.

I only have a handful of 8+ BR vehicles, but IMO upgrading the unlocked vehicles is more of a chore. Takes forever to get each module, and in many cases the stock tanks absolutely suck.
With premium, and a premium vehicle, someone was able to get top top in 36 hours.
From my calculations, it’d take me about 96 hours at my skill level to play the game normally to get to top BR.
Which shows how inefficient I play as a premium vehicle on top of a premium account is only +50% above the 200% from the premium account and baseline.
By this, it would take me about 192 hours free to play.
Just over the amount of time I’ve put into Space Marine 2.
Coming from other live service games that expect players to put in 200 - 700 hours per activity for completion while paying them, I’ve always considered War Thunder fast.
It’s not Battlefield progression fast, nothing really is as generous as Battlefield’s progression on average.
So if it takes me as an above average player to get to the top in 192 hours, I’d say it takes the average 250 - 300.
I’m use to slower progression than this, and from my perspective I’ve always had a faster time in War Thunder.
Others are use to faster games.
i’d say about 150-300 hours is a good number for an entire tech tree, about 100 hours for top BR (f2p). my stance is that you should take atleast 10-20 hours per rank to atleast master that specific rank, however current system promotes spamming 1 high rank premium to grind tech trees, or a good event/bp vehicle rather than enjoying your way up, which in my opinion would be a better system
Then how would Gaijin make money? They will never reduce the grind for non premiums.
its a blessing that all the vehicles i really care about are either in one tech tree or have high likelihood to be added to that tech tree in the future, makes the grind much more tolerable, especially as there’s a vehicle in most lineups and BRs that i am very fond of.
the fact that this is the only way i can see the grind being tolerable means that there is something very wrong with WTs progression.
The slight intrest i have in trying out an abrams to prove to america mains that its not terrible doesnt validate grinding a whole tree, ill just try my luck with the AIM.
Some people like to 100% video games, this game has such a huge mass of content that even if unlocking vehicles was fast its impossible to play them all, even after cutting all the copy and paste out which deletes most of the israel tree and basically all of the chinese tree it leaves hundreds and hundreds of offerings, it simply will always overwhelm completionists.
for top tier grinding ive found myself accepting the RP losses and using low tier spitfires to sealclub CAS out of the low tier matches i am part of. I get to sealclub, players see less CAS spam, bad CAS players are filtered by a prop fighter main, win for the health of the game. I dont mind it taking longer to unlock vehicles because of rank penalties as lower ranks are less stressful anyway as i dont have an RWR screaming at me that an R77 is going to kill me because chaff is a marketing lie from BOL pods.
Gaijin uses Pay To Progress and premium vehicles to make their money so they cant reduce RP too low, the SL economy is very hyperinflated now so people buying SL no longer happens, they need to keep their profits up either its game over for them and WT as a whole. A lot of us also live for the grind so removing that would also take away a lot of purpose to the game for many
I really do not know how much hours it takes to research a vehicle bc it varies in skill.
But I think right know the grinding its kinda slow, and would be nice to a little increase in the rp multiplier for top tier vehicles, and a significant increase for all ranks helicopters.
Also increase the maximum rp obtained at researching a squadron vehicle.
And what happens after hte grind?
The gameplay has to be interesting then - even more so perhaps!!
