How to use IR R-27 (T)?

Recently, I’ve been taking an interest in the T variant of the R-27 missiles. While I’ve always loved them as a longer ranged IR missiles, the fact that radar missiles are vulnerable to multipathing makes me wanting to use R-27T more.

Currently, I’m using the UK premium Bison with R-27T1 (non E) missiles, which seems pretty good, but my air frame is bad so I will not doing much dogfight because plane initial speed is everything for a missile’s success and turns with delta wings sap my energy away.

What would you say, assuming sea level (-60m), is the ideal firing distance for a sideway target? For both R-27T and R-27ET if possible because I have the Su-27s and plan to get the duck fullback plane which is a R-27ET missile bus.

Would be nice if you can provide the ideal range for the same scenario but target is a F-4S running away at mach 1 being inflatable due to IRCCM

Maybe slightly off topic, but personally, I don’t think R-27T is worthful to use in Bison
When you need to trade it with a radar missile R-27R.

You have two good R-73, and I think you don’t need more IR missiles.
feels like
R-27R>>R-27T>>>>>>>ZB-500
to me.

Well, this all depends on personal preference, though.
If you prefer R-27T more than R-27R, it is your choice, and if you are good with it, then it is good for you.

For the ET I’d say 4-7km max range for a running target depending on speed. Never played with the regular T and not really familiar with it
