I know it is possible. I’m observing this quite a while now. Despite the radar is very much clear without any contact, suddenly Hellfires appear in the air, killing ground units. Mainly on pit like maps…so something like Vietnam with lotsa stupid mountains, rocks and hills around the ground map. So air assets have an easy time farming kills. There are quite a few maps with this design school.
I watched some replays and it seems to be possible with fiddling with around 3rd person view, carefully dipping up and down behind a rock formation or whatever. Players seem to fire missiles off without any part of the heli above the cover. Dunno how it works; i can’t replicate it. Or is it heli specific? Seems to be mainly done by AH-64’s.
I have a hard time with my prem Tiger vs. all these SPAAs. I also tried this with my periscope mast…but somehow I cant lock while behind cover. So how its done exactly?
No its not. Nothing visible. And its done without F&F missiles. They somehow have the point on target without any radar return. Not a second. There must be a workaround I don’t grasp.
With any Laser guided AGM its pretty simple
Open the map and set a target point
Than fire a hellfire without activating the Laser, this way the Hellfire will fly towards that point, shortly before it impacts fly up, turn on the Laser and guide it in for its last 2s
Just dont turn it on in the 1st place, fire it just with the target point and once it gets close pop up, turn on the laser, guide the missile for its final seconds
Or when there is a SAM aware of you :)
You just fire a big amount of Missiles so that they get closer + the SAM focus in them and in the last moment you start actually Guiding them :)
Its not that easy. It also means there’s usually cover for ground SPAAs. I’m usually in range of a cliff or other hard cover. When the contact list suddenly shows alot incoming missiles, I just drive into cover lol. Then wait a bit to make sure all are gone and the enemy isn’t pre-launching another wave.
