How to find a good postion

Any good tips on finding good camping positions to ambush the enemy team?

Go to water if possible, on any map

No because Gaijin just keep changing the maps so map knowledge is pretty pointless.

Only advice I can give is play a game. Find the person who got 12 kills for 0 zero or whatever , because they were most likely hiding.Take their name and watch a replay of what they did and how and where they did it.You will find good spots that way.Look at how much ammo they take ,what vehicle they used ,who they attack and who they leave ,where they headed for at game start and look to see what path they took near the end game so you have a destination to move to later on.Mark it mentally on the mini map for next time.

Trouble is now is that by the time you go to try this out Gaijin have come in and stuck a big rock where the good spot was.Like getting a good score is a sin of some kind.

Look where other players go, and learn where you can shoot/get shot from. If you die from someone, you’ve learned of a new spot where you can shoot from.

One comment said that, bc of changes, map knowledge is useless. What happened the last 12 months was the first time any map got remotely reworked and most changes involved changing of spawn camping spots and adjusting obstacles so, that you cant just kill all the spawned in players. For most of the game the map stayed the same (Kursk for example LMAO)

First, its map knowledge in general, what helped me in the beginning was watching my kill cams and realising where people shot me from. Then, when I had the chance to play on the other side I used the position to find out how to counter it, its a long, enduring process that never really stops because no position is perfect. (Also CAS is horrible lmao)

Second, how to play your tank. What tanks do you use? Where is the turret located? How is the gun depression and elevation? An AGS plays a lot more different than a M1, a open top casemate TD plays different from a light tank. Learn some basic strategies (hull down, peaking, shoot and scoot etc.)

Third, Find a Playstyle that suits you and is fun for you, if you enjoy rat tanks, go for them, if you enjoy heavy brawlers, go for it. Just enjoy the game, so it’s lot more comfortable and joyful.

And that wiped all the map knowledge anybody had ,that was the point. It also made youtube map tutorial pointless in many cases. Many changes are unannounced and happen over night.I have done what you said, been sniped from a hill in Vietnam ,watched the reply ,taken note of the position then when I went to that position Gaijin have removed it.I spend the game looking for it.

So what do I tell the newbie now?

That it got removed 6 months ago. Quit crying. Just because maps get reworked after 6 years doesn‘t invalidate map knowledge. There are still dozens of other spots that you can use.

You are talking out of your bottom ,you don’t even seem to play this game.No one is crying you idiot simply stating the facts.Stop defending the bad points of the game.

Lol,

You play WT for 3 years. Im proud of you. Now I know why you think that map knowledge doesnt bring you any advantage. :‘D

I least I play more than 3 battles a week

Sadly they been slowly and slowly removed.

I dont think you should fling around some accusations (im on holiday) with your stats. First learn to play the game before you try to engage in meaningful conversations about mechanics.

I have no interest in entertaining an idiot.Stats never changed no matter how well I play so don’t bore me with that. They have been at 48% no matter what happens in the game.Same as I dont get medals unless I kill the exact number on the list.I presume you are on PC with ULQ and plenty of cheats while I am on console.

I just looked you are only on 54% lol so much for your stats.

I destroyed more targets in GRB than you, played 10k games less. That is a lot of difference.

A 6% difference in WR over a progress of 11 years is quite a lot.

Thank you for entertaining me non the less :)

Guide for (almost) every map in game ;)

Spoiler

Carpathians: Just flank wide around A, but heading to C is pretty underutilized and can camp both A and B if played correctly

Kuban: Flank around C, the area with the houses

Finland: The hill connecting the B and C cap can camp both pretty well and no one ever goes there

Big Tunisia: B cap can spawn camp, head there. Small Tunisia I camp around the open area on the B cap.

Jungle: The middle of the map can flank the northern and southern caps, there’s plenty of hills for cover

Fulda: head to the castle and climb the stairs and camp there

Ground Zero: same as Alaska

Middle East: I camp the rocks between the A and B caps on either side

Hurtgen: Either down the slope on the north side or the first on the south side

Poland: This one is pretty simple, you really don’t have much choice but to brawl in the city or camp on the hill on the south side of the map

European Province: The windmills between the spawns on the right side can be reached by either team and give sight lines for a large chunk of the map

Karelia: don’t play this one much, it’s low tier
Ardennes: the hill between A and B gives good cover and can camp pretty well for the large version, on the city version just flank around the field on the west side

Maginot Line: the hills to the north and south of C are great for sniping

Test site 2271: the only viable route is around the A cap, camping behind hills

Rhine: the large road on the eastern side of the map flanks well, or between the statue area and the park

El Alamein: On the variant that’s mostly desert, I go near the C cap. In the one that’s near the castle/rocks, I go through the B cap

American Desert: I flank around A, this area is especially good for the northern team

Golden Quarry: Either go for the far north cap, or at high tiers flank around the massive excavator, there are mounds of dirt you can use for cover

Normandy: head down the road outside of town between the B and C caps (the one that hugs the outer buildings of the town)

Pradesh: this map sucks. I usually leave if I get it. If not, I go to the far east side and cap near the road.

Sands of Sinai: For sniping tanks, use the dunes around A for cover. For brawlers, hide in the rocks to the north and south of the B cap.

Seversk-13: I have this banned.

38th Parallel: the river around the B cap is great for flanking, plenty of cover to get there and not many people use it

Frozen pass: haven’t played this one in a long time

Aral Sea: I camp around C, if you spawn on the south try immediately heading to the mound of coal or whatever it is, a lot of times people will immediately try and spawn camp your spawn and you can flank them.

Iberian castle: the pac-man shaped road is great for flanking, it lacks physical cover yes but you have visual cover and if you can pull it off the rewards are great.

Alaska:The area between the buildings between A and B has a great sight line right down the road in the middle of the map

Red Desert: I try to play around the river on the east side of the map

Breslau: Flank using the mass of roads on the southwest side, try to stop a bit earlier than you would to camp the flankers. Also watch out when you cross the road

Campania: Either just south of A and flanking the people capping it, or in and around B

Flanders: Use the B cap as a convenient way to cross the central road, and flank.

Sun City: The park area between B and C either has sight lines onto B and C, or is a good way to flank those points depending on your spawn

Abandoned Town: The B cap is pretty easy to flank people in, they usually only look directly ahead. Try to go just on the outskirts to the southwest of the soccer field, but still in cover.

Japan: camp hills around the B cap, or flank around A and hide behind those rocks.

Sinai: for the north spawn there is a convenient camping hill behind the western spawn, with good cover. For the south spawn, go around the A cap. Make sure you wait for enemies before advancing, though.

Fire Arc: I just leave if I get this one, but you can drive through the river on the northeast side of the map and flank.

Spaceport: I flank around A, to the northwest of it. Lots of hills for cover and good sight lines.

Vietnam: I have this one banned usually, if it isn’t I just leave if I get it.

Fields of Normandy: there is a large depression in the land to the east of B and A, use that for the east spawn. For the west spawn, just try and cap B then flank through the middle.

Eastern Europe: use the north side of the town to flank

Abandoned Factory: Push through the area between B and C and flank around A

Volokolamsk: don’t play this one, low tier

Big Volokolamsk: Camp near the spawns on the north side

Ash River: low tier don’t play

Arctic, polar base: Flank around A (southwest side)

Arctic, Pier: flank around the western side of the map

Arctic: flank around the northern side of the map

Berlin: I don’t play this one, low tier

Port Novo: this map sucks, I just leave if I get it. Try using the junction in the north side of the map for cover or flank around it to the north. For the park version, use the row 3 blocks of buildings to the southwest of the park for cover and move between them

Stalingrad: use the buildings in the north side for some cqc and flanking

Sweden: I usually go for C, then flank around B after pushing to the north or south of C

Cargo port: you can try going for the A cap and going down the tarmac, or use the slanted road between B and C to flank around B

North Holland: Go for the B cap, then use the buildings for cover to push up and flank. Watch your sides since you will be exposed when crossing streets.

Mozdok: the area to the south and southwest of C is great for flanking for the south spawn (there is a river to use for cover), or camping for the north spawn (a lot of people like to sit on the hill to the south of B, you can snipe them)

Play until the match ends. Check the scoreboard to see if one of the players performed extremely well. Watch the server replay from his perspective and take notes.
