How to Defeat Black Knight APS with top-tier APFSDS?

Oh shoot my bad I confused the bradley and abrams. You’re right, the abrams used trophy but bradley did have an iron fist.

But it’s the same as how ERA is modeled, it shouldn’t delete the round but it does.

If you want a weakened projectile modeled it should also be there for ERA

Bradley uses If Light

Yes, I was considering writing a thread on this. ERA should weaken APFSDS rounds. Its a tricky subject I need to get more sources on.

They are dense, but brittle, they will likely break into a couple of pieces and be thrown out of alignment. Modern APFSDS don’t bend, it snaps. This is great for penetration as it uses adiabatic sheer as a form of self sharpening once it hits the armor.

Do we know when iron fist intercepts the rod would the front part shatter but the rest can still hit and sharpen itself as it goes through the armor? That’s what I assumed from the footage, looks like the bottom half is still going straight.

The issue is that there’s no way that could be reliably modeled (by gaijin)

They can’t do the varying G pull of spinning missiles like stingers, so there’s no way in hell they can do varying penetration and hitbox of a spinning dart.

Yeah, theoretically the t90m should have gaps in the UFP like the oplot on the edges of the ERA to punch through and not be an impenetrable wall. We got to make do with what we can unfortunately.

But it’s not sharp when it hits the surface.

It likely won’t go deep enough to start sharpening before it’s already stopped by the armour.

They are kinda brittle but they are not Tungsten carbide levels, compared to that, WHA is much less brittle and it does hold some plastic deformations

It’s a high velocity explosion that explodes next to the dart and the shockwave hits the whole dart side-on. How that rod then breaks, at what points and into how many pieces will be different every time. But just breaking it into 2-3 pieces that then start to rotate will likely do a HUGE difference in penetration capability. Try pushing a needle through a paper when the needle is sideways.
