Russia has two new Shturm tanks. A t-72 with a short 125mm and ATGMs and a BMPT-72. Both of these are unmanned. How could these come to war thunder you may ask?
First your original tank will be the “command” tank. It will be the tank with the crew it it. It can then deploy the Shturm tanks, like how the top tier spaa you start as a radar then delpy the missiles. Because the Shturm tanks are unmanned they are unable to repair any damage done to them. This means you will have to have a team mate or your command tank repair you.
However because these tanks are unmanned they rely entirely on camera etc… this means you can only play these tanks in the gunner sight view and commander sight view. This will make the visibility of these tanks very bad. Also if your optics are destroyed you can no longer see with those optics. So if both gunner and commander sights are destroyed you will only have a black screen ect. Until you or a team mate repair the tank.
Would be a interesting vehicle to be added nonetheless however there are lacking information, specially regarding its capabilities and armor. Your concept to be added like a multiple anti-air system we have in-game could be used but I’m afraid we are not seeing this one.
I don’t think the addition of the command vehicle is necessary, it could be added like any other vehicle with electronics taking the place of the crew.
Would honestly be pretty balanced considering they wouldn’t be able to be field repaired as there would be no crew to conduct the repair. They could then make the vehicle considered “knocked out” if the tank was no longer able to shoot due to the destruction of the main armament. If you lost mobility you would just become a stationary gun but that’s better then being dead.
This would make it dead on arrival. Though I would like to see it, not being able to repair it would make this unplayable. Command post at spawn would be thin armor for sure easy target in War Thunder maps. I don’t see a good implementation in game for this unless Gajin adds artificial 1-2 person crew since some of its models had a driver.
Make them multi-vehicle with control vehicle and 2 unmanned vehicles with electronic modules acting as a crew.
With repair problem, make unmanned vehicles request repair as if they had no repair modification. And be able to repair on the captured point, by teammate or by player’s control vehicle.
You can’t repair your stock tank as well. I would assume you could repair your unmanned tank on the captured point, as you can do with regular stock tanks.
how do you kill it other than ammo blowouts? we can repair everything in game so it would literally be unkillable unless they make it impossible to repair, which would make it kinda crap to play.
Its impossible to repair a tank without crew, so, make it request a repair from teammates as you do with stock tanks.
And make it repairable on point. And make it repairable by control vehicle.
So, you have like 2 unmanned tanks that you can use, if you lose something that is not the engine - go repair on point or go repair with teammate or go repair with control vehicle.
If you lost your engine - wait til teammate/control vehicle will help you repair.
The cons are smoothed out by pros of not having the crew and having 2 of them at once.
Cool little niche vehicle. I would do the same with german pz2 control tank that controlled goliath mines.
You can partially repair, and fully repair at cap. Stock tank with people is not that same as a fully crewless tank. The logic they are making is crew members are repairing.
