How Survive with Yamato?

what’s make the Yamato so weak was mostly his auxiliary that one taped him when it was tickled by anything, i’ve already survived a main ammoracked with the Yama tbh after all the fix he will prob be " better " and more enjoyable to play

i really hope so. its kinda hilarious for a ship with a k/d of 1.7 to sit at the same br like the soyuz with 7.2.
Couple of matches ago a soyuz was sailing all the way of big south kvarken. almost into our spawn, everyone ignored him, no one wanted to deal with that bs. until me, another yamato and iowa agreed to attack him at the same time. it almost took us (and all the bots in spawn) some solid 5 minutes (rough guess) to do him in (also because he was angled) fair and balanced. I mean he couldnt shoot back and probably couldnt see a whole lot because of the 1000s of shells constantly exploding but man. And the soyuz changes, not sure if that changes a whole lot and ill only believe that when its actually implemented.

Well a player that knows how to play the Soyuz could easily get a K/D above 30, i’ve seen some wild score like 111 kills and 2 death while i’m struggling to goes above a 3.0 K/D with the Yamato so yeah that kinda weird that they keep it that way with the soyuz, even though i know that the future fix will help the Yamato i am not dumb to think that she will become better than the Iowa or the Soyuz, she will be just " more enjoyable " than now, i just hope that gaijin will understand the player base that how broken the Soyuz is right now and will do some major or minor fix that will help that beast to be sunk more easily cuz the only weak point i’ve found was to shot under the citadell but even with that the soyuz won’t die with an single detonation in the ammorack so…

Actually I think it will be an issue in real life too as there are no guarantee that battle between battleship will occur in super long range. We just have an example even on pacific theatre: Kirishima vs Washington & South Dakota which took at 8 km.

Outside of EC, it is flat out impossible for Yamato to fight in Naval. The best results I got were when the enemy team was nice enough not to shoot me. Thats it. Even if you wait forever, immediately turn away to get back, the millisecond something decides you should die YOU WILL. Most penetrating hits are automatically fatal no matter where, and I’ve had bots one-tap me like 30 seconds into the match because a random 15in shell hit my secondary ammo rack (which you cannot empty), and this thing does not survive any ammo detonation, shell room or not, regardless of ammo count.

So until Gaijin either gives the capability to spawn with the carriers or gives us the ability to decide which direction we can spawn in, I wont play Yamato outside of EC.

In its current state Yamato is unplayable in Naval RB. Iowa and Soyuz are so much better and it’s not even remotely close.

Yamato is currently dying to each and every ammo explosion: auxiliary, secondary, shell room. I wouldn’t call it a conspiracy, it’s probably an unintentional bug. In any case, Yamato isn’t weak just because of it’s armor design, these bugs play a big role too. We have them all reported, it should be somewhat more survivable when that’s fixed.

Getting these issues fixed might give the Yamato a fighting chance against the OP SOVIETSKY SOYUZ

Made another bug report regarding the internal plane storage hanger according to the asset viewer and the historical sources and pictures/pages I have provided.
I did not use any Xray pictures of the yamato in game for this current one.
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/sDqfLmdsVn45
internal unarmored bulkheads are meshing through some of the dingy boats and is also blocking the internal plane storage hanger bay. Its blocking most of the hanger bay off and is why planes cannot currently be loaded in the internal bay. This is a clear issue when comparing historical documents to the asset viewer hitbox model.
Here is the bug report concerning the ammo elevator xray not lining up with the ammo elevator in the asset viewer.Community Bug Reporting System

Number of hydroplane is purely ambitrary by developers, so don’t know it will be fixed by report.

Most of capital ships, even including soviet non-commissoned ones, clearly have lower number of hydroplane than they historically(or to-be in plan) carried.

Amagi has a ghost floatplane on a turret it can’t use and a wide variety of cruisers have more floatplanes than they can launch in a match so I’d more assume that’s a balance decision made by devs

Amagi has so many inconsistencies its insane. I mean the 1919 design they cite never had a floatplane but the model gets one for some reason. The main turrets are of the modernized 1930s design the Nagatos would eventually get but still have the old 1920s armor levels. Although her ““AA”” guns are accurate their mounts are not, they should not have that gun shield as it wasnt implemented until 1922. Her barbette armor hit models are significantly smaller than the actual model and collide with the elevators inside, her main rangefinder isn’t on a ring like Mutsu, conning tower viewing slits are way too large, superstructure as a whole is largely inaccurate.

And Gaijin has done nothing to fix any of this since its release.

I came back to play War Thunder for this event after about a year, encountered a Yamato, and killed it with a stray shell on the first shot. No real need to come here to know stuff is fubared.

Was all that fixed ?

nope,nothing fixed yet

Realistically, the Yamato shouldn’t be engaging at the distances it’s engaging at.
That’s due to Gaijin’s map sizing. Another thing to note is that the hidden armor on vehicles for Soviet equipment. Which only shows if you look at the damage analysis and live results in a custom but also looking at the X-Ray and components. Forgot who it was who figured it out.

Cause in reality, almost all Soviet Equipment has always been inferior to Allied equipment, even to this day. We know this cause we have them and can study them.

I’ve never played Yamato, but in my experience fighting it, it should be able to clobber just about anything below it in BR at 10km+ range. However, I have been able to sink them at close range with guns as small as 14" due to the ammo vulnerability and octagonal citadel.

I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but if you do find yourself at close range (or any range against the other 8.7s), you might actually be better off going broadside or an angle of only a few degrees. Since you’re forced to present a flat plate to the enemy any way you angle, you might as well present the thickest one.

I recently discovered that Iowa cannot pen your main belt outside of like 16-17km. Like you say angle like 5 degrees off of dead broadside and you should be practically immune. Sov Soyuz and Yamato push that immunity zone to like 18-20km but dispersion patterns are so large at that range its hard for people to hit small weakspots, so.

or get really, and i mean really close. my experience in my yamato is that it cant lower the guns to hit the hulls of ships that are closer than 2 km more or less. sit inside that area, and a bit closer not even the aa can hit you. idk if thats intended or realistic, for the aa at least it seems weird, but main guns (especially over the bow but sides as well) wont be able to hit your hull and the aiming and turret traverse is so scuffed close range that even with he she will have a hard time hitting your superstructures. yamato is: sit at range and snipe and do everything to keep your enemies at range, or die. Quite comical that half the maps start at 10 km distance (and to win you need to sail to the middle of the map which is exactly where the yamato should avoid to be at at any cost) but thats the snail i guess. Turn around and try to gain distance while dodging shots is the name of the game for the yamato. But where you have to go to be at least somewhat effective (and with that i basically mean: not get oneshot) is not where the match is won.

If thats possible could you send a message here when everything about yami (atleast something that greatly improves her survivability even just detonation no longer one shots ) if thats not too much thank you

i will wait the next major update to see if there are something changed.
