I was very happy to research Yamato, but when I played the first match, I thought that all the effort I put into reseaching Yamato was wasted.
I don’t have much naval skill and I really don’t know how to play Yamato? As soon as I spawn, it doesn’t take long for me to one-shot quickly, then i take back up and one-shot again. That is, if I pick a heavy cruiser at rate 8.7, I will survive longer.
Mostly by the Russian ship Sovetsky soyuz
I feel it is very overpowered.
I saw many reports from users who reported a series of problems with Yamato and most of them were rejected as game balancing. I really don’t understand what this balance is.
If you have a solution on how to play with this ship, please tell me.
From what I hear that ship ranges from good to excellent in most things barring decent AA and poor speed. That might be where the issue lies. Do you recall what it’s like fighting other top end battleships?
Yamato is really disadvantaged by its diamond shaped armor
There’s no miracle solution to be fair, if someone with powerful guns aims at you (Iowa or Soyuz) you are most likely dead.
Your best bet is to stay as far as possible if possible, and whatever you do : don’t angle, or at least not by much. Better to show your strong belt than the weak corner plate or frontal plate
The only way to survive is hope you aren’t targeted.
When you get in a match don’t spawn, go to the screen that shows the amount of players in a match, it both prevents you from autospawning in and showns when people are spawned in vs sitting in the lobby.
Sit and wait for a minute or two and then spawn, preferably at the location which has the most friendlies.
And then pray no one spots you since that octagonal citadel cannot be angled and every ship in the 7.7-8.7 bracket can punch through your bow and into your magazines.
Alternately play EC when the mode is up as you actually get to fight at proper combat ranges where the armor can work.
There’s no fix or change coming to improve her survivability simply because of the 270-330mm of frontal bulkheads protecting the magazines, this is it
There is no game balancing conspiracy done to Yamato. The ship was designed for 20km+ engagements and whilst its weakness of octagonal shaped citadel not being a great issue in real life, is death sentence in the game’s small maps.
Simply do not play Yamato in maps that doesn’t suits it. It is a ship of extreme - either to be almost invincible at the design’s intended range, or otherwise being an extremely easy kill. Play it in big maps or EC if you want to enjoy it.
