Sure unaware players will be caught off guard, but tbh a lot of CAS player will just fly towards the battle without really changing their course, especially if there isnt an SPAA up that is actively slinging missiles at them. And heli player are mostly just sitting ducks when it comes to shooting them. And since the shells fuse on munitions its easy to counter pesky planes/helis when you are going against them.
Some dude tryna copy Loner firing them from the Air Base. The only thing he destroyed was 2 SAM players sitting at spawn in lala land. No tanks were harmed. 😂No other CAS spawned either, was just him unfortunately.
Took it as practice session than anything honestly.

I’ve done indirect fire with M247 a few days ago, it was some 💩 head hovering 10m on helipad launching LMURs, after gauging the range and running through ammo crate I was able to cap his dumb ass behind the hill, iirc it was >4km he dies on the helipad thanks to the low velocity bullet arc
lucky you have a SAM that can intercept the fake bias missile… wish camm could
I still think we need static bots guarding the spawns in short range SPAAs. The CAS get cover at their airfields but tanks get nothing.
Nothing more fun than dying violently, respawning and 15 secs later getting a 2 ton bomb dropped on the spawn by a high flyer.
No That’s insane.
I agree, AF AA is also pretty dumb.
Big, slow, heavy bombers are seriously your biggest issue?
A lot of variability depending on BR here.
I play CAS in ground RB mainly. Typically, I do not bother to bomb stuff in the spawn, it has a nasty habit of being spawn protected as well as providing a very low level of influence over the strategic direction of a match. If you are bombed in this fashion, it is more than likely just a new pilot or player that really does not understand how to win the match. (Or care perhaps.)
The ‘skill’ portion of AA is greatly diminished right around radar and missile systems introduction. In the 3.0-7.0 range I will gladly accept that SPAA benefits from skill. More valuable still though, is the coordination. 1 SPAA vs 1 CAS player in the 3.0-7.0 range typically will go to the CAS player, as it should considering the sp cost. What happens a great deal more is the open top SPAA is shooting at a fighter while a strike aircraft inserts 500kg into his turret box. In this br range I think a great deal of thought went into how things perform and the powers that be did a great job in terms of balance.
After 7.0 ( ** arguably somewhere between 7.0-8.0 is the start range considering up tier) SPAA is just completely lost. CAS does not really pick up again until self-guided munitions and that is a whole different problem.
I am pretty confident that accounting department did all of the balancing in this game somewhere after the 7.0 mark.
…Why would this post be hidden?
This is a nice little feature. The plane icon shows up there too now instead of just dots, will be be very helpful when not looking at the Full Radar Screen.
When they fly to 10,000 feet and carpet bomb half the map, yes.
I find it interesting how people complain about CAS yet SPAA are the actually untouchable ones. SPAA are far too overpowered all of them need a BR raise by 2.0 minimum, with some like the M163 and Gepard needing 3.0 BR changes
Not only CAN, but actally CHOOSES TO as 1) its easier to notice enemies there to get kills 2) there are SPAAs that are to be destroyed first as they oppose at least SOME threat to the planes.
I would love to hear the reasoning behind that. M163 is basically useless against any threat 8.0+ shows, and Gepard is great to deal with outdated CAS but still is useless against everything that can swing ATGM at it.
SPAA is OP against aircraft. Theres nothing that aircraft can do about them
Well, they can a) dont get too close b) stay low c) attack SPAA from such position and kill it easilly d) throw some guided bomb/atgm/rocket or bomb using GNSS or ballistic calculator.
Gepard cant do sh. to SAAB 105 or A-4E, M163 cant even shoot that far to shoot down any helicopter or a plane farther 1.5km.
“Just dont get close” so I’m just supposed to fly around and hope that they dont hit me? The issue is that they’re unkillable yet can shoot at aircraft from impunity
Yes, you pick a target NOT on the spawn, kill it and move on. If you dont have an opportunity to destroy the spaa of course.
Thats the dumbest thing ever. They shouldnt be allowed to shoot at me without me having any way of fighting back. Its how ground mains complain about CAS but they’re just salty that they can’t figure out how to aim up
Are you for real?
It’s a 20mm autocannon meant for us as CIWS. Same guns found on Super-carriers like the Nimitz.
It does not have the range to compete with Air-To-Ground missiles or bombs dropped from a reasonable distance.
