first problem - vehicles are not the same. Higher BR - more differences (ofc i talk about SPAA / Planes / Helis)
This first problem, generating another problem - experienced player many times can’t do much if he doesn’t get the right vehicle.
Second problem, generating another problem … and again, and again. The point is, there is no balance at all. At lower BR problem is not that big like on TOP, because top tier cas is anihilation of ground units :D
How is it wrong? My tank with a slow turret turn speed and a machine gun that can’t point directly up isn’t gonna help me much against a jet coming straight at me, who I might add has already destroyed my engine, blew out a track and killed my gunner; I also didn’t even know they were there until it was too late.
That’s how it feels dealing with CAS. Nothing about it is fair or balanced. No amount of SPAA is going to prevent it because people either A. Wanna play THE TANK GAME and not spend the whole match playing fly swatter and barely get any kills because either CAS hits them first or no planes spawn at all, making spawning as SPAA worthless.
I never see people complaining about such warfare e.g. Heavy Arti strikes on player Infantry in other milsims… If it’s really just “not be able to fight back” and they would cry when a stuka bombs his bvm (or amv may be a better example for having no top mg), bruh they should not be in the discussion.
Think about the difference in balance between: (Lowest to highest)
9.3-10.3 → late ww2 → TopTier
This is how the A-G balance should be thought through…
Team except for me. Make perfect sense not to target SPAA first =D
Sorry for you but they do die to tanks. I’m usually at around 8.-10.ish where barely anyone dies to planes xD
Yep Pe8 can be different, but that’s the map issue. Tanks shouldn’t be in such a map anyways. I would appreciate it if you could go to map threads and vote for better designs
When a semi capable CAS pilot takes out the 262 with that doom cannon he can wreck havoc. This guy was wiping out tank after tank, 1 hit killed my US T34, makes me wonder what the point of heavy tanks are, everything seems to waste them in 1 hit.
I went SPAA after in the awful Skink, not a chance in hell of hitting a jet bomber with this woeful tank.
Positioning is very important, it’s very hard to hide a SAM even in a wooded area even more so now players can scout with drones and mark the map for their TGP.
Couple that in with im sorry to say Ultra LQ settings and vehicles practically glow when observed.
Flanking and moving away from the spawn is a good tactic but players are often sitting on the flanks of the spawn in light tanks IFVs and they will just take you out.
Radar is subjective, yes you could ambush aircraft but they would already have shot off their missiles. Seeing “S1” also puts the fear into many CAS players. You also want the aircraft to waste missiles on you.
Movement for smaller systems that spawn earlier sure, larger systems you are likely to be focussed by players who plan to spawn their own aircraft. Removing a Pantsir/ITO with an HE shell is far easier than killing it from the air. Map size is also a massive problem.
Firing, Agree too many players even with Radar AAA are trying to hit jets at 4km…
Generally being a good SAM player is dependant on so many factors, one the rewards are crap, shoot down a jet, missile or heli and you will still be bottom of the leader board the incentive isnt there. Players accept that game is gone and move on to the next one. There is no drive to want to stay and try and turn it around players just leave.
This , this is pretty much the reason why spawning in a SPAA is not worth it most of the time. Even then most people only spawn in a SPAA when they got killed by one and in that case there would be 1-2 other SPAA that got spawned in cause the CAS got a few more kills. Leading to less tank on the battlefield and the collapse of the team.
Not to mention against decent CAS player they gonna be anticipated the SPAA that gonna be spawn in after they killed someone and just spawn camp the spot.
There are so many aspect contribute toward why people don’t play SPAA and yet they are being ignored.
It is not just about the balance between CAS and SPAA. It is also about the gameplay and what else it can do beside shooting CAS.
Also most map either bad for SPAA or too big for SPAA.
There are so many factor to count in to decide whether a SPAA can do good or not. Unlike tank where even in the worst map gaijin can released they can still work in one way or another
0 A2G kills with 4 aircraft is just a gigantic CAS skill issue. or you may have had the very rare competent SPAA teammate, which isnt to be taken for granted
a strategy i use is just rush with t-80, have fun with some pvp, and then jump in the pantsir when i die.
if i dont die, we win. if i die, i can actually defend my team from imminent death by CAS.
except when im in the SPAA, im done helping my team on the ground, and wont be shooting tanks nor capping points.
this sort of gameplay is fun occasionally but when i always have to be the one SPAA for the whole team, i get sick of it pretty soon
