How player skill with SPAA effects the CAS problem

Oerlikons and some other auto guns have absolute insane gun dispersion. It’s not just the radar. They work closer to shotguns at times which is why they’re better at destroying tanks than CAS. Which is hilarious given IRL they’re insanely accurate.

It’s also why any SPAA with proxy does so much better.

I’ve also noticed something strange, with the Chieftain Marksman often landing hits that only register light damage, they’re not critical or anything, when they’re 35mm HE shells.

Can you read actually?

You are telling me that the average player cannot spawn a reserve tank and drive the closest capture point?

Damn, insane skill to wait in the air, see red dot on the map/capture point blink red, drop bomb and press S.
And do not tell me aiming a bomb is hard, just spend 10-30 minutes practicing in the test range and you’ll be able to drop a bomb with at least 5m accuracy, considering that a 1000lb bomb can destroy target in a 7m range, that’s more than enough.

If you practice more, with the 3rd person view, you can achieve sub 1m precise drop.

Actually, even in full simulator in IL-2:GB I can drop bomb with enough accuracy to target a moving tank. It’s not a hard thing man.

One would believe that @Pangolin_Fan and @WanouMars have a gift that allows them to hit a target flying 500kph tangentially to them. A sort of built in aim-assist
Too bad it doesn’t reflect in their stats, I really wonder why is that?

Suppositly, they have such a good aim that they can destroy a plane jinking at 3km with a insane relative velocity but their stat in SPAA are just average.

You’re not one to be taken seriously anyway. Wants to move up stingers despite them being utter trash, same goes for the Gepard. Everything after 2 kilometers out is gamble and somebody braindead just flying in a straight line is your best and only chance. Not to mention the insane dispersion the gun has, whatever the radar is doing in leading shots or the fact that UAVs are 90% of the time not even hit by a single shot despite current geopolitics events proving otherwise. If anything, the Gepard needs to be fixed and gets the FAPDS (1A2 variant atleast). Before you also spew anything, you haven’t even played either Gepard and I will not listen to whatever you have to say about it’s performance.

Rich coming from you, the exact person who ignore every counter argument made to their absurd claims.

But you know, we are the evil “CAS haters” who spew bullshit and lies to nerf the poor suffering CAS.

Dude, you can’t win - you already now who you’re dealing with here. Carry on, you have better to do than “discuss” this here.

Join me in game and let’s farm these noob haters with our all powerful CAS ! <3 Free SL coming!

I like how, when you claimed that ULQ_LOVER cannot use planes and was called out that just moments before you claimed a video of ULQ_LOVER abusing the hell out of CAS and demonstrating its absurd capabilities was irrelevant as it was a top 1% player gameplay…

You did nothing to acknowledge the fact that you have not engaged with the linked video or the attached screenshots are otherwise you would not have fallen to this mistake thereby demonstrating your bad-faith participation.

And yet you can’t question whether they’ve actually faced proper players who use SPAA without being stat-checked into submission…

We don’t need to kill them with every SPAA, or get them alone, but the more people that bow to the egotistical statements and ignore the shear attempt or effort to even do anything about them the more that they will be unopposed.

That, is the true issue with slurping as much as people do here.

And then the choir of criers who make out that they can’t use SPAA, or don’t want to because they think they shouldn’t have to.

So we start balancing vehicles after the top % of players now ?
Prepare for Abrams, Leopard and Leclerc nerfs and Russian buffs.

Also are you getting paid by ULQ or why are you glazing him so hard ?

I don’t know where you’ve seen glazing.

@WanouMars was going on some hallucinations that CAS require skills and time to spawn. @RunaDacino link him a video with proof that you can get an F4U-4B with 2x1000lb, 4 hvar and 4x20mm of almost 1000 round with 38mm of pen at 0m, in addition to being one of the best fighter of 5.7. All of this armement for what?

Spawn in a reserve tank, drive to A, cap, J-out. Much skills, much time, much costly CAS.

The rest of his argument is literally pointing how “playing hide and seek” against CAS just doesn’t work since plane can fly. Who would have though? None of anything @RunaDacino argue imply the need for skills.

Further, I’d say that while skills doesn’t give you the default win, being skilled help to defend your case.
If I start saying that X is OP and easy to use but I have terrible stat in it, how can you take me seriously? I could be right, and if so, I’d have to provide some evidence with hard stat, for a plane it could be speed, acceleration, maneuverability, for a tank you can add armor and gun penetration. But any “I feel” will be biased because you cannot use this vehicle right.

I’ve kinda talked about this in the section above and further up in this thread but no.

Vehicles should not be balanced after good player.
Nor after bad player and nor after average player.

This is why some zero are 5.0, this is why the He-100 is this low.

Vehicle should be balanced by comparing HARD STAT only.

And If we look at hard stat. CAS in Ground RB (At least below 7.0, I don’t player enough above to comment) is completely over-powered.

For a low SP price, you get excellent armament and near immunity against most threats, and At any point you can retreat to the airfield to gain invicibility.

In a game of rock-paper-scissor, CAS is the Well that win against every-thing.

I personally would rather increase the cost of SPAA to say 150SP BUT make it win against CAS,

Tank > SPAA
SPAA > CAS
CAS > Tank

Like rock-paper-scissor.

Yes, vehicles should be balanced around someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Maybe not the top 1%, but the data should people who:

  1. Exclude those who have only recently spaded the vehicle
  2. Exclude those who have less than 10 hours using that vehicle regardless of stats
  3. Halve the weight of those whoser stats are exceptionally low with the vehicle, cross-reference their over-all stats with similar vehicles (defined as rank & class: So if you do horribly in 109F4 then check how you perform in a F6F-5 and Spitfire MkVc and so on. For rank, check ±2 ranks (this ensures WW2 props are taken together but we exclude guided weaponry from judging performance with a rank 3 vehicle and likewise we exclude WW2 gunfighters from judging fox 3 performance). If they perform below the lowest quarter across all similar vehicles, drop the data as they don’t understand how that vehicle type should be used.
  4. Conversely, double the weight of those who generally fall within the top quarter for that given class.
  5. Finally, double the weight of those who have used a specific vehicle for at least 100 hours - at this point: we expect them to have fully mastered each quirk and peculiarity of that vehicle and their performance should hopefully represent the maximal capability of the vehicle.

Otherwise, taking air sim as an example:

The Spitfires have a very high skill floor to use without killing yourself.

If we take the average statistics of spitfires, we find that they underperform and should be reduced in BR. I presume this is how the Spitfire Lf Mk IX ended up at 5.0 oppressing all but the Ki-84 which itself sits at 5.0 through questionable circumstances.

However, if we only consider the statistics of those players who have proven adequate familiarity with spitfires (have flown them for 10 hours at least) and generally perform above the bottom quarter we find that they are excellent and highly capable fighters provided you understand coordinated flight and how the elevator works on those cursed things.

Similarly, we can do the same approach to Fw190s which themselves demonstrate heightened instability compared to the usual prop. However, even when used by players with top quarter performance and extensive experience they perform mediocre at best and may warrant a reduction of BR presumably. In this case, it’s not just the high skill floor that reduces the aircraft’s performance - it’s their engine thermodynamics and flight model.

This is an example using air sim as that’s my main game mode but the idea is extensible across all game modes - just the idea of a exceptionally high skill floor gets reduced.

I like using the spitfires as an example in particular because I suck at extracting their maximal performance despite being generally competent with my fighters (not good - competent. Middle of the road, average fighter main that understands dogfight theory but gets overwhelmed and fails to apply it with proper consistency and does stupid things.) Therefore I know that my performance should be considered less when balancing spitfires compared to someone with mastery of their quirks.

There is no denial. The mgs on my Leopards don’t hurt a plane or scare it away at all. I can’t speak for other nations with their roof mounted MGs, however in toptier this isn’t very useful anyway because the altitude, speed and high angles these aircraft usually sit on are unable to even reach with my mg. It’s also funny how instantly resort to insults and not even try to counter every argument I made, guess the chatban was deserved after all.

But I did it „x” times against players that were flying in a straight line at me at angle that my mg could shoot at so You must be wrong!!!

What’s worse is that at higher tiers your MGs are absolutely useless if the plane doesn’t do something very wrong. Typically you’ll be engaged from several kilometers away without you even hearing that plane.
