Basically, I see a lot of people commenting about the M1’s 5 second reload. But thats only if you have an ace crew.
How many of you actually do ace your crews? (Mainly sense you need to spend over a mil SL just for expert, Then play another 100-200 matches to get the ace rank for free.)
(I usually play multiple nations unlocking multiple vehicles, So i don’t spend anything on crew skills unless i really really like the vehicle. From my pov, things like the m1’s tend to have around 6 seconds usually.)
Personally, I only ever buy the expert crew on prop aircraft or low tier tonks, where it actually has a noticeable impact
Top tier stuff where my pilot is going from 6 G’s for 10 seconds to 6Gs for 12 seconds before blacking out is just pointless and expensive in my opinion
A regular level 75 / 150 crew works just fine imho
Without expert, I G-loc way too often when executing high-speed dives, descending spirals or just high speed scissors - all of which I do very often especially in my american props that are all about that first turn advantage - losing that advantage because I passed out half-way through the turn is a very quick way to die. My tendency to do an aggressive split-S-like turn as my opening for equal-energy neutral head-ons only works with expert crew too even in sth slow like the G.55 sottoserie 0 (as I learnt painfully.)
In addition to the insane G-tolerance and stamina increase Experting gives me, it also improves my rendering consistency.
If I get a new plane and forget to expert it, it’s almost guaranteed I will die way more often to black dots that literally disappeared on my screen when they shouldn’t have in my 5/5 expert crew.
Acing is a pipe dream.
Even in my premium mustang I’m like 190k RP/750K RP and the rest are at even worse ratios. This isn’t helped by the fact that I bounce between nations and planes as the wind blows. On average, I earn ~1500 RP/15 minutes with my prop planes, and due to SB economy it never exceeds 2500 with non-premium planes.
I can’t recall how much the Mustang Ia pays off top of my head, prolly around 4500 or 5000 roughstimating from its RP%.
5000 RP per 15 minutes to be generous for 750K RP = 37 hours of flight time in JUST the mustang to ace from zero (assuming I never die and all that caveats for sim reward system).
Always Expert, even with autoloaded tanks because it takes chunks out of the repair times not to mention other bonuses like traverse speeds. Ace I get for free if I’ve played the vehicle enough.
There’s really no excuse for not having Max Crew (just reload + leadership + targeting + rangefinding + tank driving, not lvl 150) with Expert training at top tier. Which gives the M1s a 5.3s reload iirc.
For Air it really just depends, can be useful on turn and burn planes for the G tolerance, not much point in burning SL if you plan to just base bomb in an Su-7 with napalm for example.
Ground. I will never waste my GE on ACEing but may expert something that Im actually going to play.
Air. I will Expert anything im gunna be playing a lot unless its something that simply wont benefit from it (like a mud mover) as the main thing you want to expert and ace for is the extra G tolerance and Stamina and you rarely will be needing it in something like a Buc. (that having been said. Tornado Gr4 may get aced soon and I did expert it) If its a dogfighter i’ll be playing quite a bit, then I might use GE for ace. For example I did with the Gr7 and Typhoon.
Naval. I will expert anything I plan to play long term. Especially BBs as it makes a massive difference and I will ace anything that I will play reguarly. Makes a big difference with reloads on BBs. For example Hood, Rodney and Belfast I have aced and I may ace London and Vanguard, but I have yet to decide that. But both are/will be experted.
(Lower BR stuff where experting is super cheap, will just be experted, because why not)
I only ever expert my top tier jets or planes I know I’m going to use for 1v1s and stuff I enjoy. So basically just MiG 15bis, 21bis, and every Rank 8.
I have been setting my crews to Expert as soon as I put them in a slot since I began playing in Feb 2014.
Some worry about the expense, but if you are going play the vehicle, even just to spade it then setting to Expert is the way to go . … imho.
By setting your crew to Expert you automatically get +3 for every skill, and every game you play counts towards the FREE Ace.
Even if you do not play it to the FREE Ace, you can still reduce the cost of the Ace a great deal.
Getting to Ace adds another +2 to each crew skill.
I feel like the Experting for SL’s is one of the best deals in the game, for reasons I already mentioned.
If I put it in a slot, I plan to play it and always set it to Expert.
Just how I roll . . … crew skills are often overlooked and seems like a great many do not understand their importance or value to your game play.
Those speed rushing to high/top tier and ignoring the crew skills are just handicapping themselves.
I have everything up to 9.0 experted for all my lineups in germany/rus, it just gets crazy expensive after that and I only expert things like top tier jets that can pull crazy AoA like su33/30 typhoon etc.
Maybe one day, but its gonna cost me about 50m SL to finish experting everything. Only thing I have aced is premiums for spamming them out so much.
Expert every vehicle I play, generally I’ll set aside SL when purchasing the vehicle to Expert it out of the gates, there are also a few vehicles that I’ve Aced through RP accrued through high numbers of battles.
I’m happen to be a sucker who pays for ACE crews if I find myself really enjoyed playing that vehicle, paid ACE for around 20 vehicles to get the best out of them, also another thing is to offset my high ping from having a faster reload time. I hadn’t done that for a while, I can tell from one Israel Magach after having 168 matches I’m halfway through 1 million points required for ACE, now I only have to spend half the GE to ACE the crews.
I have all of my Japanese crews on expert (Tanks planes and Ships). I have all premiums I own on ace as well (not bought). The only non premium I have ACE on is the type 10 (also not bought) currently working on ace for the TKX
You cant get free Expert. So you always have to spend SL. But It would be nice if the RP cost wasnt 4x the initial RP cost of the vehicle. 2 - 2.5x I think would be far more reasonable. Also annoying its tied to the slot and not the vehicle. Which makes changing line-ups a nightmare.
I’ve only ever free-aced a single vehicle and that was the Tornado Gr1 that I use to play a LOT in ASB.
