How is it decided whether an aircraft's alternate ammo load will cost SP or not (GRB)

So, how I originally thought it works is that everything larger than 20mm will take SP to use alternate ammo loads. This however is not the case apparently, as seen on the F4D-1

So what actually decides whether or not alternate ammo will cost SP?

?? All alt ammo loads cost SP if they cost GE in the air game don’t they, regardless of calibre?

Nope. all 20mm and below has no additional SP cost, with exception of F4D-1 for some reason.

Probably an additional gun option such as the FW190s…

Oh, so it’s bc you can fire 2 of the 20mms separate from the other 2?

I assumed that the penetration of the belt does, but I don’t know what the exact value would be.

Nah not like that, but nah, what I said doesn’t even apply in this as the 20mm is stock and a base weapon.

The FW190s additional guns cost extra SP for the change from default rounds to AP and the likes, which was what I was meaning.

This almost may need reporting as a bug as it doesn’t follow the norm.

I made a bug report, however the bug report moderator guy said “not a bug” said nothing else, and closed the report.

Although this doesn’t mean it’s not a bug, It’s far more likely that som1 at Gajin just hates the F4D-1 for some reason. This would also explain why the bogus Russian bug report that lied saying the F4D-1 didn’t get any ballistics computers and provided no evidence whatsoever, was approved.

This should be discussed then as the way I see it, it should follow the norm and not charge extra SP for it being that it’s a base weapon.

If it does have ‘OP’ pen/performance then MAYBE I could see why the SP cost is justified, but I’d like to see another vehicle with this setup, that does cost SP to change the rounds.

I want to say whether or not the belt has an AP round. If it does,.SP increase, if it doesn’t, no increase. For example stealth belts on the 30mm ADEN have no AP and have no SP cost

This isn’t so much about what you wish, but the question as to why this is all the rounds.

They’re just your typical Colt 20mm Mk12. They’re amazing A2A guns, but nothing special in regards to strafing.

Imo all stuff from like 7.0+ shouldnt even have a cost to gun belts at all. Its only in ww2 stuff where aircraft doing strafing runs can have any impact on the battle so its a little more justified putting a cost on it similar to other ordinance there. But higher up your lucky if u even get a chance to use your guns without getting shot at by all sorts of stuff from miles out, if u do have an opportunity you should be able to have them be marginally effective without paying through the teeth for it.
