Hello i know this might be a hard question but does anyone know how ECM (Defensive) works IRL and how could it function in war thunder, since we are getting relatively close to it getting added to the game.
The only example i personally know is the one found in nuclear option witch kind of works like a continuous drop of chaff since you still need to hold a notch angle and change the altitude to avoid the inertia of the missile.
But instead of being limited to a countermeasure count it is instead a sort of battery that is recharged passively, and depending if you have your engines and radar on or off it changes the rate that this battery charges though when you activate the ECM it goes trough relatively fast.
After saying this I want to clarify that I don’t want the exact system used in nuclear option to be implemented in war thunder, gaijin should search its own solution to implementing defensive electronic countermeasures and how to balance them, I just want to show what other games have proposed to this same mechanic.
So yeah what are your ideas on how war thunder could add defensive electronic countermeasures.
many modern missiles have counter ECM, like lock on jam and jam detection to go into IOG and DL only mode. at most this would affect older missiles and SARH missiles the most, but have the added effect of increasing the effectiveness of notching and chaffing against ARH. so still requires some skill, it is not an impenetrable force field around the aircraft.

You can look for the answers given by other users, but from my perspective it would need only 2 keybinds, or even just one keybind if they just implement noise jamming.
yeah i think i should have clarify better that i don’t want something like the example of nuclear option, i might edit the post so it doesn’t look like that.
