How can you bomb a ship in naval?
For me is impossible. Even If I fly at 1800 mm. with a bomber every ship destroys me. I cannot even approach.
What could I do?
Thanks!
My advice would be to not even try in the current state of the game, unless you can find some serious island cover.
Combat’s left mostly to ships, and those who fly are just RP/SL piñatas…
I wouldn’t try bombing ships… But if you do, here are a few tips and pieces of advice…
- Don’t expect to come out of your attack alive
- Bring biggest bombs you can
- Target lone ships
- Target ships who’s AA seems to be turned off, or is not firing at you (They can be firing, but at another ship or plane)
- Bring rockets, especially ones like Tiny Tims or red angles. They were made for anti-shipping roles
- Bring torps if you can. Bring as many as you can
- Don’t expect too much for your efforts, it’s not normally worth it to fly in naval battles
I’ve tried and tried and its very hard. The best advise i can offer is naval mines. place them in high traffic areas and hope someone runs into them
thank you so much!
thanks!
Yep!
Well, 1800 it’s not so big altitude. Especially for naval battles.
If try bombing (Tu-2 with 3x1000kg, or Privateer) - i fly 3.5+km (and still get *ucked by 105/127/130 HE-VT).
But at least have a chance.
And for this chance… never, NEVER fly straight. Always turn in sides. Even slightly. On high altitudes, shell need couple of seconds for incoming. So you can even visually evade it.
(Once, i make some Cleveland+Helena rageout, just by evading their 5’ salvos, and then drop some 1000kg on them)
Or just take torpedoes (AM-1 “Mauler”, with Mk.13/44, Tu-1, with NU-45) and hide on low altitudes, between islands.
If you play Japan Navy
- so sorry dude, Japan aircraft torpedoes, has almost point-blank range, comparing to others, which make any try a one-way trip.
No, sure, its been a situations, when i, flying my Ryusei (B7A2), sneak between islands, and properly crash a day for some unlucky Helena, even more - get out, only with some scratches. But it’s almost pure luck… And a island, which help me hide after strike.
You, surely, better use 800kg bomb. Btw, Ryusei is pretty capable fighter, when drop his load, with crazy turn, but shitty roll.
But torpedo bombers, due to danger tactics/usage (Gaijin just don’t want make game realistic, and give AI wingmans to pilot in fleet battles), better use in arcade mode.
A timer on your bomb will make a better impact if you put it down the side of the ship. You can also skim bombs on the water to aid in this, making you able to come in faster avoiding fire because of that factor.
Fly (really) high or really low.
Above 3K m the AA isn’t much of a threat if you are maneuvering a little. Learn to judge the lead you need for your average ship speed (30knots). The British, US, and Japan air test map has moving ship targets to practice on.
In low level, find a target that is near an island or something during decent to the deck. Use terrain to mask yourself from fire as you approach. Pop up at the last second and then dive and drop. Attacking from stern or bow first usually exposes you to the fewest guns.
Torpedo bombing is literally hit of miss. Make sure to check the drop speed and alt. limits for it, because… its no fun to spend 5 minutes lining up the perfect run only to drown your fish…
Using planes in Naval is not an easy thing. AA is intense to say the least. Other folk in here have mentioned some good tips, like dive down and use islands/buildings/etc for cover. I would also suggest to avoid using the large bombers. Use smaller bombers, strike aircraft or even fighters with bombs. They’re faster and more maneuverable and you can juke your way in close to drop your bombs. However, as others mentioned, don’t expect to survive a run. If you can, try and aim for the bow of the ship, you’ll eventually get the timing down so that aiming at the bow=bombs hit midship.
If you do use large bombers, I suggest staying high and practice using the bombs so you can get a feel for the timing and how far you need to lead a target. Don’t forget, if you’re playing Germany some bombers get the Fritz guided bomb.
One other tip, if you decide to use the dive bomb method from altitude, cut your engine in your dive. If the ship doesn’t have it’s auto-AA on, this will make your approach much more stealthy and players may not notice you until it’s too late.
One of your chances of getting close with torpedos is to drop it very close to the ship however that requires getting really damn low to the seabed.
