Just another weird balancing decision from Gaijin?
AIM-9L, Python 3, AGM-65B, one of the best turn fighters out there, better radar than the Tornado (the Tornado’s radar has a longer range, but was mainly built to lock ships, so it’s only good in close combat).
Only AIM-9Ls, ok loadout for air RB, but not for 11.3 Ground RB. Not super fast, loses the base race often, and turns like a ship (if you don’t set your fuel to 30%).
Gaijin balances the game around “potential rewards”. Its dumb, its annoying, but its the way they have chosen,
The Tornado can take bomb loads and can sometimes reach bases, perhaps even getting 2 at a time. That means its decent at getting score (score, rp, sl), whereas the F5 varients are noob traps. Everyone says they are good, and they ARE good, but alot of people who dont have the skill to play well will drop the score down and not play well. This is an issue, beacuse in PVP, the tornado and F5 shouldnt even be able to see each othe

Fighter vs strike Aircraft, what seems to be a problem?
F-5T’s radar is not worth using. No look-down and no IFF.

you have a good number of JDAMs which you don’t even need a targeting pod to use
In terms of ARB, then I would confidently beat the F-5 to a base in the Tornado. Just dont run stupid amounts of bombs and you will be fine. The ability of the Tornado to win a dogfight vs an F-5 is entirely irrelevant (though ive beaten an F-20, twice in a gunfight before in the GR4…)
Any other comparison is a waste of time. Its like saying the Spitfire is a bad fighter because its worse at base bombing than a Lancaster.
In terms of GRB, then they are 2 entirely different aircraft, with 2 entirely different loadouts.
Litening II Tpod with a moderately decent number of GNSS weapons vs 4x short range AGMs with TV optics and no Tpod.
Tonka has the advantage on CM count, but the F-5 has the advantage on FM.
But Ground BRs largely get messy when it comes to aircraft due to compression, and quite frankly, terrible BR placement for a few SPAAs, like the Pantsir
