How about renaming this game to

POINTLESS. I’ve been playing this game for the best part of NINE YEARS, i only play arcade mode and ground battles. In the early days it was quite a good game, win a few, lose a few.
The game is virtually impossible for me to play now, regardless of the battle tier i play. Tier one to tier six, my first tank cannot score a kill as a rule, and the armour on my tanks is like paper.
All my tanks are easily killed, or at best critically damaged with the first shot that hits them, if the first hit doesn’t kill them the second does the job. My ammo might as well be made of rubber for what use it is, it never used to be that way. I would certainly not describe myself as a ‘great player’ but i’m pretty competent. So i’ve either become one of the worse players overnight, or, as many ex players who have long give up on this game have said, the games are rigged at the server.
I’ve seen some compelling evidence over the years, one battle stands out, SIX allied tanks attacking ONE enemy tank, all allied tanks of a higher battle rating than the enemy tank. the six allied tanks pounding the enemy tank simultaneously from front and sides with ZERO effect, the enemy tank killing allied tanks easily with just a single shot.
I checked on the experience level of the allied players, they had ratings from mid thirties to one hundred. Enemy tank player just rated around twenty.
And i’ve lost count of the games where it takes at least three or four allied tanks to kill just one enemy.
So did i become one of the worse players overnight, am i just one of the unluckiest, or has something gone badly wrong?
I’m getting very close to finally deleting this game because it is virtually unplayable in this state, regularly losing around 90% of games is not my idea of fun, i certainly don’t expect to be on the winning team the majority of the time, but this is becoming a joke.

The true way to get cohesion and coordination is to take initiative, and make a squad… You populate your friendslist with good people, you make channels in the chat section to get people to join you, you ask about in matches, and you join discords.

Otherwise you take your luck with the team you are given, and keep in mind the further up the teirs you get, the more blinkers on, and kill-fixated they become.

In my matches I call out in the beginning to get people to play longer or to think about things more by merely saying something confident and positive, and I commonly don’t get a response, but even without the response, someone, will be looking out…

A good music playlist can also make the tasks a lot less difficult. Just stay positive and things will be different.

Doubt any advice here would have a meaningful/positive impact on your view of WT. Sounds like might be time to move on and maybe come back at a later date.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. The hard facts are that my armour and ammo is virtually useless in most games, and has been for a few years, some of my tanks have ammo that can penetrate 400mm of armour at 500 metres in theory, yet i’ll get to as close as 30 metres to an enemy vehicle that has just 50mm of armour and the round does little or no damage.

Since making the original post i’ve played a few more games, at different tiers crushing defeats for the team, not remotely competitive. Again, my ammo struggles to kill at any tier i play at, and my armour is useless. It no wonder so many players have dumped this game over the years, and some of them very good players until the game became near impossible for them to play.

Over all the years i’ve been playing i have done just that. Left the game for anything between a few weeks and sometimes months. But why is this happening? As i’ve already said, years ago we had great balance and fairness, it’s now become a joke.

You say you are playing ground arcade.

Questions:

Do you rely solely on the green hit marker to decide if you will penetrate?

You mention 400 mm penetration. This likely means either a HEAT(FS) or APDS round. Both of which are vulnerable to unconventional counters - spaced armour nullifies HEAT(FS) (including sometimes add-on tracks, wooden logs but especially side-skirts and that weird ring around the PzIV turret).

APDS on the other hand loves to shatter at high angles of impact, making it much less reliable for fighting targets with sloped armour. Even flat armour can shatter it if it impacts at an undesirable angle.

These two will thus end up dealing zero damage if all you think about is raw RHA thickness versus penetrating power.

Beyond these, where on the enemy tanks are you aiming?

Are you aiming for likely positions of enemy crew, ammo, breech or simply aiming until the marker cross is green and firing? As a rule of thumb, shooting tanks right of their barrel is very effective (kills their gunner, they cannot return fire) or if it’s american (shermans etc), aim for the left of their barrel (from your perspective).

This is extra important when using solid shot, APDS and HEAT(FS). These shots have minimal damage cone requiring precise shooting to take out the enemy crew either by shooting through multiple crew members, detonating the ammo rack or surgically disassembling the enemy tank of its many crew. Unlike APHE and high-caliber solid shot, you cannot just shoot these anywhere expecting success from a simple penetration.

And even APHE can fail if the target armour is so thin it fails to fuze. In such events, treat it as a APDS round or switch to HE for overpressure.

I found, reading reddit (and national communities’ moan threads), that relying on the green hitmarker and being awfully frustrated is a surprisingly common occurance for GAB, hence my assumption and explanation.

I generally line my lineups to make .3 notches, rather than the .7 because I feel it has more chance to put you up due to the gap being less than the .4 on either side of that breakdown.

That’s how I think I manipulate the matchmaker.

This hardly sounds as facts…there are players killing you and surviving your hits…so their ammo and armour works…
SO…unless the game has decided to pursue you personally for some reason, your facts don’t show anything wrong…sometimes ammo kills tank, sometimes tank survives ammo.
You claim you are always on the wrong side of the equation and still you played for YEARS?

Sorry if this sound harsh…but i have trouble not thinking you are exaggerating and having some type of perspective issues.
I can admit you may have seen some kind of odd results…but i seriously doubt that is the norm…for the simple reason that i also play the game and see the same thing. Some days i die 3 times without a kill (even with multiple hits)…others i get good kills. I am simply aware that my skill is compared with the enemy skill…and luck (or RNG) happens.

As someone above said…from your tone i doubt any advice or comment here will change your mind. TBH i would not play a game that took me to the no-happiness place you seem to be now.

You play in arcade mode… where everyone can see you and get a hit marker to know where its going to damage you… you have other people that have played as long as you and they go down in br;s for easy kills esp during events…

Maybe try RB you should have the knowledge of where to shoot the tanks at this point.

Mate your opinion doesn’t matter. You only play Arcade. Most of Y’all have no actual proper understanding of how tank battles work.

«Haha, marker go green»

What’s wrong with arcade?? Just treat arcade as boxing, and realistic as MMA, both required a different set of skills to do well, there is no need to act like you are the superior one if you play realistic, especially when you can’t even perform in both modes.
