How about buffing Su-27SM?

In my subjective assessment, I personally think Su-27SM has poor performance among fighters in the same BR bracket.

I guess this is due to Su-27SM’s hopelessly underperforming radar(N001VEP).
It frequently misses targets, has poor tracking performance, and the TWS performance is absolutely the worst.

Additionally, I also think R-77’s performance, the primary missile for the Su-27SM, is not particularly good.
Because the R-77 has a shorter range than the missiles carried by other fighter jets of the same BR.

Therefore, I think it would be better to either buff either the radar or the missile(adding R-77-1) while maintaining BR, or to have both and increase BR.

To my knowledge, the current specifications of Su-27SM appear to be a mix of the performance characteristics of the Su-27SM2 and SM3 variants. So if gaijin buff it and change the name, wouldn’t that solve the problem?

If you have any thoughts, please reply :)

lol
the n001 radar is simply that trash mate
sm3 has same radar
sm2 as far as i can tell never existed, was just a paper proposal of putting irbis on a 27sm

It’s fine for 13.7. Avionics are bad, but you get a strong loadout and decent FM.

Its a jet with high offensive capabilities but bad defensive in a 16v16 environment

It seems my information about SM2 was incorrect. My apologies… But I heard that the SM3’s radar processing, antenna, and transmitter had been improved. Was this also incorrect information? thanks for good reply.

Sm’s FM is the best among flankers(In USSR, recent of ingame), but its radar performance is still a bit lacking… ;-;

27sm and sm3 would use the same radar in game, they both get the vep. 27sm3 gets extra hardpoint for 77s and also 77-1 capability

If Gaijin actually made the drag of the R-77 variable rather than constant, the missile would perform a lot better in terms of range.

it might have existed, but only as a test bed and not as a proper variant

if gaijin were to give the Su-27 its proper FM…

Best FM is the J-11B but the SM is very close

Unless cross-verification is possible, we cannot wake up gaijin… How sad… :(

imo sm is better for relevant df speeds, j11b only better above like 700 kph and at high altitude

The Su-27SM we have ingame is the closest to the Su-27SM3 with its upgraded engines and the ability to carry 12 missiles

I’ll just have to trust Gaijin’s coding skills… :(

How so? The J-11B does everything slightly better at slow speeds too. The engines are a tiny bit weaker at slow speed, but the jet is a bit lighter to offset that.

according to willie walrus (best dueler in the game probably) 27sm is slightly better than the j-11b, which makes sense looking at statshark charts

They are indeed very close. also those statshark curves don’t fully match with the in-game testing. Statshark is overestimating both FM at slow speeds

At slow speed, they have the exact same STR within ±0.1deg/s deviance.

The flight performance is so close to the point I can’t possibly have a reliable argument on which is better at slow speeds due to the small performance margin differences.

But since the J-11B appears to be the better FM at high speeds and has better unsustained energy retention across the board (small margins though), I would say overall the J-11B is the better FM.

yeah, in regular matches j-11b is definitely better, i was talking moreso about 1v1s

In a 1v1 scenario, the SM has both better and more fox3 missiles for HOBS jousting and better IR missiles for dogfighting.

Guns only I think the J-11B has a tiny tiny advantage but its so small it doesn’t really matter

Su-27SM is already among the best 13.7s in the game. Its radar is also correct.
