In my subjective assessment, I personally think Su-27SM has poor performance among fighters in the same BR bracket.
I guess this is due to Su-27SM’s hopelessly underperforming radar(N001VEP).
It frequently misses targets, has poor tracking performance, and the TWS performance is absolutely the worst.
Additionally, I also think R-77’s performance, the primary missile for the Su-27SM, is not particularly good.
Because the R-77 has a shorter range than the missiles carried by other fighter jets of the same BR.
Therefore, I think it would be better to either buff either the radar or the missile(adding R-77-1) while maintaining BR, or to have both and increase BR.
To my knowledge, the current specifications of Su-27SM appear to be a mix of the performance characteristics of the Su-27SM2 and SM3 variants. So if gaijin buff it and change the name, wouldn’t that solve the problem?
lol
the n001 radar is simply that trash mate
sm3 has same radar
sm2 as far as i can tell never existed, was just a paper proposal of putting irbis on a 27sm
It seems my information about SM2 was incorrect. My apologies… But I heard that the SM3’s radar processing, antenna, and transmitter had been improved. Was this also incorrect information? thanks for good reply.
How so? The J-11B does everything slightly better at slow speeds too. The engines are a tiny bit weaker at slow speed, but the jet is a bit lighter to offset that.
They are indeed very close. also those statshark curves don’t fully match with the in-game testing. Statshark is overestimating both FM at slow speeds
At slow speed, they have the exact same STR within ±0.1deg/s deviance.
The flight performance is so close to the point I can’t possibly have a reliable argument on which is better at slow speeds due to the small performance margin differences.
But since the J-11B appears to be the better FM at high speeds and has better unsustained energy retention across the board (small margins though), I would say overall the J-11B is the better FM.
