Its more the state of the HE rounds and the low dispersal that annoy me with the Kront.
Kron’s HE is the same as the Kommuna, just with a “fake” MV. It’s a lightly built shell historically used on those WW1 era 305mm guns for coastal bombardment, and not for use against surface targets.
The shell itself isn’t fake, but giving it to the Kron’s much more powerful guns(though that gun was also supposed to have a light HE shell of its own), and allowing it to be used on surface targets with no difference to normal HE shells, is kind of bias and “fake”.
You can find similar “light” HE shells on many large caliber naval guns of the time, including guns that are in-game. But only the Russians get them, and that’s bias. The dispersion is also bias, yeah.
I stand corrected. That’s quite frustrating - yet another area where Renown is outright worse than Hood (not seeing the justification for this absurd br yet!)
When it comes to this question of draft, does Friedman give draft and freeboard (and the associated loads) for the 1944 configuration? With those we might be able to measure from the model in-game to figure out where the waterline should sit.
should the torpedo filler be TNT or Torpex? gaijin likes interchanging the 2 as seen on the Wyvern’s torpedo
and shouldnt it get a search/track radar as well?
Yes, I intend grinding it. Got 4 stars, but on holiday for a few days now, however, think I’ll be back in time to get the other 4. Would have spent GEs to make up one or two stars if necessary when I saw it was in its 44 fit and would, therefore, have VT on the secondaries…. Now I’ve read the thread and see it probably won’t have VT for ‘reasons.’ Anyone still doubt the existence of the British tax?
I’ll still get Renown if possible, as it looks good and I’ve got all the Royal Navy TT ships plus many of the premium/event destroyers. Not so sure I’ll throw GEs at any stars I fail to grind though. WTG Gaijoob: how to ****-up a potential sale.
I mean the ability to fire both primaries and secondaries was added yesterday so the ship is clearly worked on. I would hold the “britain suffers” crying at least until the event is over
No she’s not. Her current draft is about 1ft shallower than the nominated action load condition and 3ft shallower than the deep load condition as indicated by 1939 original plans. In 1944 her deep load condition would have been 2000ton heavier than in 1939 which would probably make her draft another foot deeper, and that means the ship in game is sitting over 4ft higher than deep condition.
Has this been reported?
Reported, but generally speaking draft issues are considered least priority thus often left unaddressed for a long time or not getting fixed at all.
Yeah I noticed. But thanks for the detailed explanation. Though Mag told me the Renown’s draft is “fine” because the game uses standard load draft and not deep draft?
A deeper draft would most definitely be welcome even just as a balance change ofc. Have the lack of HE-VT on the secondaries and the lack of newer shells in the main guns been reported as well?
6crh APC and HEVT had been forwarded.
There are ships using standard condition as draft in game but Renown in 1944 was significantly heavier than when she just had finished reconstruction in 1939. Her standard condition in 1944 would be equal to the extreme deep condition in 1939.
how much better is the 6crh APC?
Depending on range, 6crh penetrates 50mm more than 4crh in average.
any benefits to the explosive mass?
No
Hope developers noticed it is quite high priority. Especially Renown has only six gun, and her 15-inch has dispersion, she have to be a brawler, which positon of ammunition storage is extremely important.
Thanks a lot! Hope the fixes are implemented by the time we get the actual ship.
Will the dispersion of the main batteries be fixed before implementation? n the test drive, it has by far the worst dispersion of any gun currently in game. I generally hit with 1-2 rounds out of every 6 shots fired no matter the range or where I aim on the target. With a 40 second reload, that’s going to be awful.
All the three 15in guns (British 381mm, German WW1 380mm and WW2 380mm) in game were given the same worst accuracy unfortunately. Nevertheless I have made a proposal of reworking naval gun accuracy upon more realistic standards, but it’s up to developers’ decision of when or whether to implement it.
It desperately needs it. I fired a salvo at a Battleship in the Hood at a range of about 12km the other day. 5 rounds landed short, the other 3 landed long.
