High/top tier maps should be exclusively max size

One of the biggest issues with toptier right now is that the maps are tiny. The same map sizes that WW2 heavies are part in, are the same map sizes that modern MBTs and light tanks are put in. It doesn’t have to be this way though.

Many of the maps that are known for being cramped such as Alaska, Campania, or Cargo Port already have a full 4km x 4km play area made and ready to be put in the map rotation.

.

Here’s a few

Out of all of those, Alaska and Cargo Port look the best by far

Despite how awesome these look, we’re limited to cramped COD maps.

Yesterday I’m not in the mood for cqc, ended up RTH 6 times in a row, sweden, advance to the rhine x2, sun city, abandoned toilet x2, stay and played hurtgen forest and tunisia

I prefer a realistic diversity of sizes over stagnant sizes.

WW2 average size maps are locked from BRs above 7.7 already.

War Thunder can learn from Enlisted allowing progression in custom matches.
Enlisted custom matches is how I play Japan in that game cause I hate the pacific maps.

i reckon these types of maps would be better in some form of halfway between current realistic and some form of sim EC, as the duration of the games would want to be a bit longer and the types of objectives would need to change (i reckon they should remove third person too but without adding sim controls but thats just me)

There are no controls differences between sim and realistic.
The only differences from a using perspective is commander out position and forced gunner sight which you can use in realistic as well, and many IFV players do.

Obviously there’s friendly fire, no friendly markers, and an IFF system, but that’s nothing special.

If you mean aircraft, full real is far easier in first person than mouse aim ever will be. Outside that mouse movement, your keybinds do the same things.

was talking about for planes as well

I’d be happy with the sim sized maps being used as the default rather than the smaller versions above 8.0. I don’t think they should be the only maps, but larger and different maps would be welcome.

They’re still pretty small maps. Max size Cargo Port or Campania are only as big as Red Desert and Fulda.

yeah but having a slightly slower paced gamemode i think would be an important part of making maps bigger

plus at least with cargo port some of those fringes are modelled very low quality and theyd have to fix that which who knows if gaijin would do for just adding a slightly bigger map

Having playlists based on game “intensity” based on maps size and/or specific maps pools would be welcome, this would help diversify the game experience as a first step.

I would really like using some vehicules on maps like large Fulda or Red Desert more oftenly, so I could choose a certain playlist to play these kind of maps in their large scale version (Leclerc or Chally 2 on maps like Factory or Normandy are not that great).

This kind of playlist experiences are not a new feature and some other games already provide them.

I think small maps to prevent op team bypass and go spawncamping and I support your idea for bigger maps for top tier.

I like variety. Small maps are fun in their own way. Love a bit of close quarters fighting. But would be good if they upped the ratio of larger maps.
