so, I’m curious when Dear Snail Gaijin plans to implement realism in this game?
Because i haven seen it yet, especially with something as basic as movement, driving, climbing and conservation of momentum.

i think this is deliberate to prevent tanks from getting into secret OP spots, this seem to be heavily disliked by map design devs as you can see with restricted zones literally destroying your vehicle if you cross them but it was very evident issue during the world war 1 event where tanks just couldnt cross through trenches while you can see irl footage of tanks having no problem going through them even in their most primitive forms
then the snail should design the maps around the tanks ability to climb, this would improve realism and fun, tanks cant climb cliffs and walls. simple solution.
if only…sadly they can’t make good maps, especially for top tier. Everything is CQC and tiny now, zero room for breathing. And i dont think they will bring back traction to be realistic, they hate hot spots and block them too.
More realistic driving is on the way with regen steering but the ability to go over a small pebble is an intentional choice to cover for bad map design choices
Realistic conservation of momentum and steering are coming soon, but tanks acting like they are driving on an oil slick is a design choice. For the record, you can turn on manual transmission then cruise up steeper hills on gear 1
During Beta Testing of tanks ground vehicles did have realistic traction, but Puma drivers and Hellcat wranglers would zip up 60 degree slopes in blind spots around the spawns and shoot people as soon as they spawned in because there wasn’t a invulnerability timer.
Instead of working on the map design to prevent that from happening (like putting exclusion zones around spawns) Gaijin wholesale nerfed traction to a fourth of what these vehicles are realistically capable of climbing.
I would certainly enjoy a return of actual traction, especially as I work on creating Combined Arms ECs for more traversal areas instead of slip-n’-slides at 30 degrees.
so the tanks have unrealistic driving mechanics to compensate for bad map design by the snail. got it, thanks for the clarification. Snail should consider fixing tank movement and make good maps then.
We’ve been begging them to make good maps for years. Taking bug fixes and the bomber buff as datapoints expect to wait ≈6 years or more
I still remember it took Gaijin 4 years to Fix the Type 93 SAM. Purposely missed jets, helis going slow, still, straight etc…
Gaijin took the snail as a symbol as an excuse to be slow from what i can tell
