Helicopter Gameplay, the good, the bad, the ugly

PVE rewards were pretty much halfed after its introduction though. Which is saddening.

Especially since you have to fight over your team for score

  1. Gaijin gave us the opcion to research helis with ground vehicles, thats good, but modification costs are way too high, for a 8.3 heli for example it takes a lot of time to get the atgm, and get stuck with only rockets, worst part its the atgm its at the bottom of all modifications.

Helicopter pad shouldnt have aa, that just encourage heli invinsibility. Especially at top tier, that you either need a saclos spaa or a plane to kill ldicrm helis. In real life, theres no such thing as helipad, the combat helicopters go to rearm to the airfield or a base.

If you want safety from planes use your turret or air-to-air missiles. You dont ahve one, make a suggestion to get your door gunners (if you heli can have it), and last resort go to the airfield or the furthest helipad.

I think you meant heli pve?? Yeah that one needs more objectives and more rewards. Even with big booster you get like 20k rp for 100 kills and 2 hours spent.

Yes, in real life, helicopters are usually at airfields or FOBs, which also have as or spaa. In no reality is an expensive helicopter not covered by AA unless actively attacking.

Given that the helipads in game are FOBs, place a Gepard that is destroyable between the two heli spawns makes it balanced. The Gepard doesn’t have extreme range and would make it fair and fun.

Technically they are not actually FOBs, just landing pads with ammo/fuel depots. You dont see barracks, walls, or other logistic things. I actually made a suggestion to turn them into fobs (still pending).

Anyway one of the 2 helipads (that everyone uses) its too close to the battlefield to have spaa. It needs to be further, like in real life, and then we can agree to give it an spaa.

What I mean with this, its that helis after spawning, needs to get out of the helipad to engage the ground targets, its unrealistic to hover over the helipad and shoot from there.

literally not tho, The DIRCM defeats any IR guided sams and the radar guided ones dont track hovering targets well, undefeatable unless there is something like a pantsir or VT1 launcher

If you face a high IQ LDIRCM heli player, he will shoot from 10km - 12km. SACLOS missiles will take so much time to even reach that distance (with its very close to its maximum range), and by the time its like half the way or 3/4, the heli already hidded.

I had this issue when a Z-10ME player shot me FnF missiles out of my flarakrad’s range

Well in my case I see heli players spawning in the nearest heli pad, and after a IR spaa gets killed and spawn as saclos, he is already over. its not very common to see heli players actually using their better range. I would say bc they are overconfident of not expecting saclos spaa in that br.

only way to consistantly counter them are really aircraft, and everytime i use SACLOS they just dip down anyways

Sadly yes, a good TV guided AGM-65 can do the job or a brimston. Most people would use guns, but thats when they get owned with the turret’s cannon or that undodgable chinese air-to-air missile.

Its BS that only for a broken feature on a heli, we are forced to have 2 spaa in our lineup or just spawn aircraft to counter helis. Anti-air not doing anti-air things.

That’s why I suggest the put it between the two heli pads, generally the close one is 3 miles from the battlefield where as the far one is typically 7+
Meaning a Gepard at 4.5 - 5 miles~ roughly… would only really be able to engage targets flying at the fist heli pad. And cover the second one reliably

I’m not talking just top tier helis… 8.7s, and others exist too.

Typically no, usually helicopters are harder than planes. Their maneuverability is far less, and they take far less damage.

Things like the Mi-24 for example, the literal helicopter nicknamed the “Flying tank” and known for being able to take a beating, is so fragile.

Take a beating against dshk/m2 browning rounds and HE 20mm. But still against missiles and 25mm or higher caliber cannons will heavily damage the helicopter. Like ingame.

KA-50 / 52 aren’t any slouch either.

Meanwhile the AH-1G is the Maus of the sky I swear

better than the hind but still bad made worse with the new extremely necessary high-fun measures of your weapons shutting off to some 7.62 instead.

Nah the Kamov helis are known to have absurb high survivability. It tanks 12.7mm bullets, and missiles often just destroy the tail, which the heli doesnt need to keep punching the ground vehicles.
Well I think they got nerfed with the more modules update for all helicopters, when with your control system damaged you cant no longer fire.
