Helicopter Damage Model Revamp

The roadmap released at the beginning of the year said we would get a helicopter damage model revamp. As someone who plays helicopters frequently I want to know the thoughts and ideas on what this may look like. I also want to know how it can be improved. They are set to be revamped this summer. So next major update most likely. Thoughts?

Helicopters need skin that doesn’t get penned by dawdamn 5.56s

Why? Aluminum does get penned by 5.56 and even smaller calibers

Irl it was extremely well protected around the cockpits and engines. Ingame, a Puma’s 5.56s can destroy it pretty much anywhere.

Gee, if only there were more to helicopters than just the cockpit and engines… Oh wait! There is, including nearly the entirety of the electronics and rotor systems

A few LMG hits and you violently explode, I have no hope for this at all

If only it was made under the largest military budget in the world with the most advanced material science in the world and help from Nazi German engineers. You can see from irl wars the Apache was in that it could takes loads of gunfire and still fly. Its rotors were specifically designed to withstand hits from 23mm, and it’s body was designed to withstand gunfire from 12.7mms.

Dang helis are already dead in this meta. They are burying the coffin now.

Maybe it is that Gaijin try to model internal module to Helicopter like they did with ground vehicles.
As some might already know Most empty space in helicopters model aren’t exactly empty.

Just like current ground force. Damage module would effect vehicles one way or another
Ammunition storage , battary unit , Optic , MAW system , stabilizer/hover , etc

Did that clumsy person who set up the helicopters ever try to fly them? How can you hit a helicopter with unguided missiles if the point of impact is much higher than the aiming line and the helicopter needs to be positioned almost perpendicular to the target???
Why can Vidar survive two shell hits to the forehead and fire a return shot, but a helicopter that gets hit by a machine gun loses the ability to use unguided missiles (the mechanism there is an electric capsule + wires + machine)???
At the same time, in air battles, a downed aircraft without a wing and with damage can launch and guide missiles if they are present and the radar is not destroyed. Nonsense, nonsense, nonsense.
In this game, at least something is not done in one place???

I hope they change it soon, because it’s quite frustrating to be rendered useless (can’t fire weapons, missiles, not even flares) as soon as a bullet touches the frame of my Mi-35. That’s ridicolous.

Helicopters are in a very bad state rn

A single .50 cal to the fuselage can completely knock out all weapons system, an APFSDS to the tail can knock it clean off

They are just not fun to play and reward very passive gameplay.

You are rewarded for sitting on the helipad throwing missiles and rockets instead of going to a proper position because one lucky hit can completely knock out your helicopter…

Not to mention rocket runs being impossible now, especially with helis without CCIP because of how easily your weapons can be knocked offline

Like how does a 50 cal bullet cut the wire from the trigger to the rocket pods???

And why shouldn’t planes also get this treatment? Give planes APUs, flight computers, weapons systems, make radars not work if your APU or one of your engines get hit, make your aircraft go out of control if a a single .50 cal hits your flight computer
