As war thunder changed the visual for modern airfield, I think of changing the visual of the actual heli base which is pretty empty to a Forward Operations Base looking one, with 4-6 helipads.

MLRS and other artillery mobile vehicles access to the heli base:
As the tittle says, what you think about possible future mlrs and artillery vehicles having access to spawn or enter the heli base in order to have enough range to use these type of vehicles instead of using it as direct fire as now (just so little vehicles being able to do indirect fire as the russian BM 31or sturmtiger).
The way to get in this base are 2: just spawning in or a symbol behind tank spawn when you drive into it you get teleported to the base and vice versa, with a 2 minute delay between tp to avoid exploits.
The way of aiming for these vehicles being so far away could be:
manual indirect fire (if the player knows the distances between targets also using the capture points range)
drone or map ping that tells distance ONLY FOR MLRS AND ARTY vehicles (map pings can take a little delay like 10 seconds so people will not use it as a laser rangefinder)
Note: these type of implementation needs to go along side bigger maps and player count for each battle, so the teams dont get easily defeated cause 2 or 3 guys spawned mlrs and went outside the battlefield
Absolutely agree. Helipad bases need a rework like airfields did. Artillery and MLRS vehicles could actually fulfill and play their roles instead of being meme vehicles.

Very cool idea but will enemies be able to get telported there too? What’s stopping the enemy team from jsut sitting at this base to avoid getting spawn camped or similar?
The thing is each team has only access to their own heli base, at late game if the last ones are hidding in the heli base the opposite team can kill em easily with cas (which at that point all spaa of that team are dead) or counter artillery if possible.
Or just wait for tickets to ran out.
Sure… But I don’t want to hear any bitching about getting spawn camped by a helicopter/CAS, the way that people do about locking down the forward helispawn currently. If you choose to spawn here you don’t get any SPAA/AAA support.
Maybe give AI spaa like rapier or roland to the far heli base (the one near the airfield) so it can kill helis but strugle against planes. And the arty player can decide which heli base to go (the one defendless or the one with aa).

Yeah they could kill them with Cas I am just saying it Will basically be like airfield campers in air RB rember that these artillery systems can get Prox shells too so they can basically just shoot down Cas too basically even and not everyone brings Artillery or you already uses yours.
From what I know, these new medium-range AAs that rolled out recently should be far enough from the battle field so that arti can’t kill them, this would be a problem if nothing was done in WT.
For the front line ones, they are most of the time very well hidden in forests, towns and more. You are fixed in spawn with AAs on up to 2 possible spawns, that’s another problem.
Lol iirc the SPAA at the far helis pawn is still hitscan but does 0 damage that would already be huge improvement if they brought back damage for those
For me the spaa in the helibases should only protect u from enemy helis sitting camping with aa missiles or canons (lile z10 players now), but you still be vulnerable against planes and helis with atgm, to avoid the helibase being an op spot for arty.
Ofc this is only restricted for the far helibase, cause the other one is too close from the battlefield to have aa.
