I agree only if they are an NPC Bot unit that can dig in and hold a position or cap points.
They can’t be playable individuals. They count as one item.
IFV and Choppers gain value and so does every anti personnel machine gun in the game.
The infantry can be reloaded from the chopper helipad, yes make choppers with transport capacity increase in fun value and give their 7.62mm guns targets.
The limit on MANPADS is measured in some way, like one per infantry section. Grenade launchers don’t count.
Perhaps a choice has to be made when selecting the type of infantry support weapon. Anti air, Anti tank and mortar as anti infantry, hazardous to lite armor.
The number of bots in a squad could be fixed to 10 men regardless of the transport capacity for easy balance. Until gaijin could flesh out the historical troop choices.
Tank tracks become a weapon.
I’ve made old posts on Reddit about this before and hoped someone else would champion the idea. It will never be full RTS but why not hybridise some of those features for infantry.
It was still awesome battle field dressing compared to the sterile environments War Thunder normally has.
Vietnam chopper squads with M72LAW ,M60 and M702 grenade launcher would be cool
APC’s with deployable mortar crew would be awesome
Laser designator teams for special forces.
If they just start out with a generic 10 man squad for everyone then add historic loadouts later it would be awesome.
Then remove the spotting mechanic for making it cheaper to spawn CAS.
It would be cool seeing all the different tactics that players use to deploy infantry. IFVs might use smoke to cover troops after they disembark or deploy them behind friendly tanks, so they have mobile cover. Utility helis could fly in low and have their troops fast rope behind cover or clear an LZ with rockets before landing directly on an objective. We could drop off a recon team to scout targets for CAS or deploy a mortar team for faster artillery support. Theres so much that adding them to the game would do. People think it would ruin the game but the gameplay in its current state is the furthest thing from good.
If they have 5 or 6 generic squad types to begin with. It’s also an opportunity to add some ground spawn defence.
They could have off-playable-map NPC troops with mortars who fire once you sit in the enemies red zone or ATGM troops in dugouts who’s weapon range only reaches the redzone of the enemies side of the map, forcing spawn campers to eat turds.
ATGM crew/ Mortar crew/ MADPAD team/ Recon team & laser designator/ Grenadiers LAW and RPG/ Sniper team.
