Heli/APC Infantry Insertion

Yeah, you’ll see a lot of people suggesting to “Just play Enlisted”, completely disregarding the fact that Enlisted is an infantry centric game and that War Thunder would still be a vehicle centric game with WAY more content. It’s like they see the word infantry and just ignore words like A.I or NPC. I don’t even think they read rest of the suggestion after they see the word.

By adding solders will make this game to next level. Because as far as I know none of the war games have so many maps and carrier(land force, air force and navy). If it will change the rate for this game. Just adding an age authentication for the game model with solders. What’s more, the old players can also have more things to play and buy.

this would take years to complete and release. It requires all new code, implementing new physics, new guns (lots) and just way too much things in general (OPENED BUILDINGS WOULD BE A DETRIMENT TO PLAY AND USE LOTS AND LOTS OF STORAGE) (also, new models for buildings and tanks would have to be scaled to size for infantry or vise-versa). Also, this would of course, have to be a seperate gamemode. My point is, I don’t think enough people would enjoy it, it would be way too chaotic, and it would be a waste of developers time to insert a feature that not much people would play if implemented.

I’ve messed around with the CDK files. This tool goes into extreme detail. Everything is there except the animations for entering and dismounting vehicles and certain cosmetics. The physics are all coded already. There are certain triggers that can spawn units. Units can be set to follow paths automatically. Certain units can be used to capture points. Units can be scaled manually. They can be assigned teams, given rules of engagement, etc. I can’t say how many people would play the ground side of it but every time I mention it in a heli PvE match, the majority of the responses are in favor of it. Guns dont need to be added or coded either they can just be bare bones generic infantry with skins the reflect the BR. As of now they are listed in the game files as “Rifleman and Bazooka infantry”

you assume that the infantry would be able to enter buildings

maybe they will be implementing infantry soon then

I feel it would be far too underpowered and make the game cluttered either way. I think this is what enlisted is trying to do. I guess im looking from the perspective you would need many models and to implement different infantry in every era with different guns, and maybe different firing mechanics. Sounds like an okay concept, but I think it wouldn’t fit with the game at all.

I fear many players would oppose this, as most care VERY much about the realism of the game. I guess I was thinking of this in 1st person. I think it would be awesome as a different gamemode.

This would work a lot better with helis and APCs offering stuff like additional Crew Replenishment, repair points (like a capture point which speeds up your repair or allows for stock vehicles to fully repair) and other more utilitarian uses rather than having infantry do direct combat (ATGM teams, AT Rifle teams, etc)

I don’t get what you mean, but the people really only cared about that event for the rewards it has.

maybe try this first…in air RB, if you are able to parachute while still alive and reach the ground, you can run to a nearby, abandoned artillery piece or pill box, and continue the fight till you are KIA or the game ends.

That one is a bit much. I’m pretty sure OP intended for infantry to be exclusively A.I controlled. At that point I’d have to agree with the people saying to just play Enlisted.

Basic Ai infantry in WT already had a few mechanic of their own. like moving from point to point ,shooting or go prone/crouch while underfire.

They just need code update like where is cover on the map. where to go

And then update to their model like WW2 Era,Cold War Era,Modern Era. And code to their AT weapon+ MANPADS.

Of course, the AI ​​infantry would have to be reworked considering the realities of War Thunder. This means giving them suitable weapons like RPG/ATGM or MANPADs (option to choose). This would push infantry carriers such as the BTR-82 higher in the BR and allow for the addition of other similar vehicles that do not have enough firepower on their own (also it would also be historically more interesting as these infantry carriers would finally meet vehicles closer to their age). It would also increase the density of air defense, which could have a positive effect for ground forces survivability against air threats.

No complex RTS fetueres.

Just like artilery or just squad like controls of the squad. Tell them where to go depending on zour radio range. In WT you should if you drive a IFV or APC (they could be made posible) just click on the map, they dismount and attack what ever they see. Tell them to mount back up and if zouc an fight from the fighting compartment. Would be very handy in urban envorments. Nothing to complex for the start.
