HE at Naval battle

High explosion round from naval gun should deserved a buff, currently they just didn’t work like they suppose to do. Most of the time you will just get a -1 crew damage even after hitting the the open top turret, and logically speaking, how is there only 1 gun crew that operated a naval gun possible?

Let it go, naval feels like shooting with a water gun at sponges and hoping to get that one lucky hit before the AI steals your kill

Aim bow and stern plates.

Then pray they flood out.

Gonna need some more details here, what cannon are you shooting & what turret did you target that only gave -1 crew deaths?

These are important details that are missing & tbh HE damage was buffed last year to what it’s now & tbh HE shells are kinda nasty depending on the shell it’s & what cannon it’s fired from.

I think the bigger issue is that it’s too easy to repair flooding damage and that is where HE should be a lot more effective

I found this issue mostly on Japanese guns (because I just start grinding naval vehicle), sure is because the US guns having much higher fire rate thus I not notice or there is another reason. I also test drive other ship that having much bigger gun and the problem also occurs sometime, like you hitting something with the 380mm or 406mm and most round hit the brigde but that just shown -12 crew which obviously underdamage.

Agreed. Flooding, not crew death, is what took out most real ships. Arguably flooding should simply not be repairable at all, but the rate of sinking should be slowed unless you have multiple catastrophic breaches (like from a surprise kamikaze PT boat on a WW1 BB). For example I think the Musashi took several hours to sink completely after its final battle. And that was after taking dozens of aircraft bomb and torpedo hits.

HE shells were never meant to hit ships. use ap instead and rely on HE only at very long ranges or very bad angles.

This used to be a thing pre Leviathans and was the easiest way to kill a Scharnhorst.

13cm SAP from the Russian BBs wreaked havoc on it with unrepairable breaches.

This implies he had AP to begin with.
