Hdr

The HDR is realy washed out and white, i dont think its only with me but it would be good if War Thunder gets a good HDR calibration.

It’s just really dark for me. It’s some “adaptive” nonsense they put in.

That’s… Kind of what HDR does?
If you’re playing on any type of IPS panel, it’ll look like absolute trash… Because the feature wasn’t made to fix issues that you have.

Do you have an M-OLED/OLED panel? If so, you then need to make sure you’ve properly color calibrated it, and only then you have to hope that you have a high enough nit count to make use of HDR.

If you don’t have any sort of OLED, have a low peak OLED, or simply think HDR is supposed to magically break the color limitations of current panels… You have no business messing with it.

no hdr doesnt wash out the colors like this, also its just war thunders issue as i used hdr in games where it got a good calibration like god of war ragnarök or doom eternal theres no problem with that. warthunder makes it look like the sun shines on ur monitor.

So Apple is lying to me that my MacBook supports HDR? It’s a new model too and they didn’t mention anything about oleds.

likely not. wont lie ab supporting hdr or not.

If you have an IPS panel, it absolutely will. One of its major drawbacks is its insanely high raise in contrast, especially in any IPS panel (let alone LEDs) that wasn’t specifically made to exploit it.

It may be, if you have an nvidia card then it should be quite easy to alleviate on your own. It’s a little out of the way, but it isn’t game-breaking.
Not sure about AMD.

No? M-LEDs are effective equivalents to OLED/M-OLED panels. The entire reason why it took HDR over a decade to popularize is because of improvements in display types, and Apple M-LEDs were one of the few systems that can match OLEDs in their capability with a far more complex array.

Why would they be lying to you by saying it’s HDR capable?

Also… Who are you…?

A man. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the empty answer, seeya

What?

Because that’s the common conclusion for people who struggle with HDR. I’m not sure where you’re trying to get your insults to land, because this is the same for every game.

Can you quit with your schizophrenic rant, though? It adds nothing.

No it is not lol. There’s not a single other game where one match it is clear and bright then the next it is dark. I turned their stupid “dynamic post fx” off so it is some broken thing

It’s the same for ASE/ASA, the entirety of the Ghost Recon series, Snowrunner and Mudrunner, Rust, HEAVILY in DayZ, AW, and BF4 + Hardline.

For the most part, it’s an issue in display variance. It’s made to be a be-all-end-all setting to make your graphics look better, though that simply won’t work when it was made for a specific set of panel technology.
Optimization for it only became feasible in the mid '10s, when color-calibration became something you can do on your own and developers for hardware implemented systems that allowed you to fine-tune display options.

You clearly don’t play a lot of games, then. Never tried Tarkov? No DayZ? Better yet, something as simple as GHPC.

And…? You… Turned it off? What happened next?
I can click the power button to my monitor and it’ll fix any issue, though it DEFINITELY isn’t the desired outcome. Your way of thinking tells a lot about what you know…

War Thunder doesn’t use Windows HDR integration because it’s specifically made to be available on ALL systems with ALL types of OS. The ability to tune HDR preferences is not rocket surgery, nor is it something broken with the game… Having it rely solely on windows auto-calibration would make it almost unalterable for about 60k people.

It stopped being washed out but will not fix the variance in brightness even though the map and time of day are in a very similar setting.

And yes I don’t have a doctorate in computer display technology, how could you guess? My way of thinking (can’t tell if that’s your way of calling me dumb) is that I shouldn’t have to spend half the day racking my brain to figure out something about my computer screen because who has the time for that?

And what’s with the snark? That time of month?

Do you mind showing what you mean by this?

Then don’t use a time-intensive thing if you don’t have the time to do such.

Thinking you are forced to do so then using “I don’t have the time for it” is an idiotic line of thinking.

Happy to when I have the time.

Here are a series of screenshots.

  1. Eastern Europe, Day, Clear. Both the tank and surroundings are bright and sunny, and very clearly visible.

  1. Iberian Castle, Day, Clear. Surrounding scenery is artificially vibrant but tank has a giant shadow cast on it. This was taken in an open field.

  1. Hurtgen, Day, Clear. Surroundings look more normal but a shadowy cast on the tank

  1. Test Site, Day, Overcast. At least the scenery and tank both look dull and dark as they should. But in what universe is this an overcast day? Looks more like a thunderstorm is going to happen. I live in the UK, I would know. Its been overcast all day and it didn’t look as grungy as this.

  1. Carpathians, Day, 14:00. Looks normal at least.

  1. Flanders, Day Cloudy. It’s somehow more vibrant and clear on a cloudy day in Flanders than a clear day in other parts of Europe.

“Replying…”

::eyeroll::

I cannot see a single issue with the variance in these screenshots.

Apart from “Shadows are dark” and “Clouds block light”, your black points are about the same and the difference in contrast can easily be tweaked with the polynom filter.
