Probably cause they’ve been playing arcade shooters for a decade that call themselves realistic, when the most realistic mainstream [Steam] shooter is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019, partially cause they hired real soldiers as consultants.
So people not calling War Thunder or DCS realistic is ultimately a claim from lack of knowledge.
Realism isn’t defined what people think what it is.
It is an art category. And more detail does equal more realism in things like clickable Cockpits.

I love War Thunder because it becomes more and more realistic each update.

I have a safe full of firearms. I grew up using firearms and have continued to as an adult. That doesn’t amount to call of duty being a military simulator or realistic at all.
To their credit, the IW animation team did amazing work with MW19/MWII, but yeah as a whole it’s a hilariously laughable claim. Like, CoD doesn’t even account for something as basic as the +1 round in the chamber…

CS does not have variable spread, it has no bullet drop, no altitude variations, no air pressure differences, not even breathing sway, no first shot variation at all, no wind interference, no variation in effects on the bullets depending on size and speed, no variable optics with distance adjustments.

Well sure, War Thunder isn’t arcade anymore. They’ve grown up since ~2016.
Realism > arcade. Even in the arcade game mode where the primary change is engine power and flight models.

Ear thunder is fine and realistic enough in sim. It is the perfect flight sim for people that want to hop into short games because they don’t have time for something like DCS. But WT isn’t on the same level…it just isn’t.
true but one could argue accuracy IS realism in this context though.
