Honestly, I just hate how the devs are just not transparent about anything, ever. They could maybe come out and say “why we believe SLM has an effective range of 10 km” in a technical dev blog and make things a bit clearer or admit that they don’t have the necessary data to model these things and not rush weaponry that isn’t ready for the game yet, like it was for Kh-38, so it makes the devs and Gaijin as a whole have a clear favorite nation in their game.
It’s clear to anyone that this missile is underperforming badly, I was expecting at least 25 km or 20 km effective range and 30/40 km for a non maneuvering target, but 10 km is horrendously bad and won’t change much for any competent pilot.
The thing is they know the missile is underperforming and there is no way it has only 10 km range but if they make it realistic then russia wont be op so…
if they couldnt do it realistic then they could make the new spaas have the same performance as Pantsir S1 so everyone has an equal spaa, but nope, lets make it so Pantsir stills dominates hell yeah no favoritism at all
And I don’t expect people to bother with these new AAs either, Gaijin expects players to first spawn them, manage 2 or 3 vehicles at once, then sit on spawn and do nothing but die to a tank anyway because maps don’t even allow for these AA’s to be effective in the first place.
As for the Pantsir effectiveness, it is still the only AA that can intercept multiple munitions at once, as well as engage any plane at any distance and keep any plane within 10 km away from the battlefield, of course a competent CAS player can outsmart and evade any Pantsir, but there is still the undeniable fact it is still the best overall SPAA in the game and it looks like it will continue to be so for the time being.
OKay I think I will skip this major update and wait for the next one. This update should make Russian SU players feel frustrated and their Pantsit become useless instead.
Don’t forget that Pantsir has these multi barreled AA guns on top, which makes it absolutely op compared to the new SAMs. Pantsir’s missile is far better, the handling of the truck is much better, it has deadly guns to kill tanks and close air targets. Its just not fair and I don’t get how these hard to handle multi vehicle monsters can’t at least have a better missile than S1.
Ok, the new SPAAs are done, now lets talk about how the never finished Sovetskiy Soyuz suddenly makes the ingame Ru the strongest naval faction …
Diehl Defence chief program officer for Iris-T states 40km range / 20km height for SLM in an interview (Airpower 2024 ). Ingame it starts falling out of the sky after 10-12 km. How can Devs be that wrong?
Likewise, but even if you didn’t have to bother with having to cohabitate with tanks, the simplistic nature of WT means that even modern AA systems will only ever be about managing target parameters to get a decent launch. Even if there was parity in capability between CAS and AA, there is no way to turn it into engaging gameplay.
I myself purely dabble in AA systems out of spite rather than proper interest in the thing.
Unfortunately, since the Pantsir is the upper limit of what the average CAS player is able to cope with, you won’t really see better AA systems until they get better.
I was preoccupied due to their Redditors so I missed that. It’s not surprising, though, but it is another mark on the board for examples of Russian Bias. The GNSS buff is also another mark on the board.
It really is just too hard for them to be honest and fair with the game, even after all these years.
Their actual operational ranges and their actual lock-on modes and ranges, for immediate example. We got plenty of bug reports and discussion threads around on them. To ask me such a question indicates you either skipped those threads or just memory-dumped them.
