Real shame, SRAAMs use to be a lot of fun, now they are almost not worth taking. Probably should finsih the stock grind on the GR3 at some point.

They can’t even hit a target 0.8km away at mach 0.9 (while it should be able to hit at 2km+)
If launched below 350kph they will spin out and lose track
They won’t lead enough so they miss shots they could’ve hit otherwise
They can’t even track afterburning targets from a side aspect reliably (While it should have similar all-aspect to the R-60M)
It’s genuinely depressing
It’s really funny because the Yak-38 is at 9.3 yet it gets 4 R-60s which are better in almost every single way
It would be quite silly with either of those fixes though, either a short range all aspect shotgun or a decent sidegrade over the AIM-9J (if they fixed both issues it would be way too hard to balance)
Yeah, that is the only historically accurate part about them. Which is especially bad for the Harrier, being a low speed fighter
What I think they should do is fix the range but just give them quite a wide rear-aspect ability, so its decent in side aspect shots but not make it true all-aspect. Maybe add an All-aspect version for something like the Hawk that can come with CMs and therefore would be okay at the necessary higher BR

They could give it similar stats to the AIM-9G so it has quite decent side aspect lock ranges
OR
Make it only lock afterburning targets in the frontal hemisphere
so all you have to do is cut your afterburner in a head-on
though im pretty sure gaijin isnt fixing the sraams because they’d have to move the hunter up since that suffers a lot less than the harrier

Yeah… Neither SRAAM carrier is great and I dont think even just the min and max range fixes would affect BR with the current compression but they also probably fear making them too strong again and so just wont touch them.
