Harrier gr 1

The Harrier GR.1 should not sit at 9.7 because it lacks the performance and survivability expected at that BR. Unlike most of its peers, it has no countermeasures, making it extremely vulnerable to the widespread all-aspect IR missiles found in 9.7–10.0 matches. Its SRAAMs are highly situational, with poor range and limited effectiveness compared to the radar and advanced IR missiles that many opponents carry. Additionally, the GR.1 is subsonic, leaving it at a severe disadvantage against the supersonic aircraft it routinely faces, both in energy fighting and in disengagement. While vectored thrust can provide advantages in niche, low-speed engagements, this is rarely exploitable in the current meta, and its large frame makes it an easy target. These limitations combined mean the GR.1 struggles to compete fairly at 9.7 and would be more appropriately placed at 9.3.

As long as it has SMRAAM it shouldn’t be fighting anything without flares, which already does in downtiers so no thanks. I agree that the plane is less than meta without flares but it’s still fun to get kill with AMRAAM on unsuspecting people, I do that from time to time in my Hunter F6.
What should happen is more decompression across all BRs, but that ain’t happening soon.

Meant SRAAM my bad.

There are 3 major issues:

  1. SRAAMs are a buggy mess in need of a total overhaul. Not only do they not work half the time, but they should have double their current range
  2. Harrier’s (all 14 of them) are underperforming loads and can get a large number of buffs
  3. Decompression. That entire BR bracket is a total mess and the Harriers are the clearest example of that. Harrier Gr1 should not be the same BR as the other 4, especially the 2 with 240 CMs vs its none.

Though until such time all 3 have been done. (or at least 2) 9.3 would be the more appropriate BR these days

The most I go for early jets is 8.0 I stay away from 8.3 like the plauge just bc of compression. The whole br bracket is jus beyond cooked. I want to get the mig15 bis but might just get the 15 bis ish since it doesnt reside in the hell of 9.3 uptiers

Yep, same. which is why I only play those aircraft in ASB where the uptiers can be avoided

If the harrier gr 1 was at 9.3 it would be perfect less up tiers and more fun because going against aim 9ls are horrible

Yeah, that is true, but it sucks in nearly everything without flares

Playing against aim 9ls are pure pain with no flared

Yeah in grb aswell you can’t really do anything with it without getting nailed

GRB, i think both the GR1 and GR3 should be 9.3. Neither are a match for the Buc S2 in terms of CAS and it would actually add a half decent fighter for our much stronger 9.3 line-up. We basically dont have a 9.7 line-up at all

Plus the sramm missles should get fixed hopefully, can’t deal with having to shoot missles from 0.70km and under

if they fix the sraam then the gr1 should go to 9.7.

It’s already 9.7. That is kinda the problem. I agree that with a full strength Harrier with Full Strength SRAAMs, 9.7 would be fine for now. But with neither… 9.7 is… unpleasant

Gaijin gave flares to the american f5c/f5a bc the chinese f5as carried them, by that logic the harrier gr1 should be able to get the flare pod the av8a has bc the american ones got it

Facts.

Dont care who belives me but i stat checked a chinese pro a while bk

Mig15bis 8.0 3000+ kills not even 100 deaths

Mig15bis 8.3 500+ kills 100+ deaths

Only difference 0.3 BR … WTF

Yak 38 with r60 missiles on 9.3 is fair for gaijin

The SRAAM is inconsistent when fighting planes with flares and supersonics, in downtiers, it’s still a guaranteed death if fired within 1.2km; lowering the BR is definitely not the lesser evil and this missile will seaclub any jet that is slow and doesn’t have flares.

That’s the thing most planes have flares but we don’t we gotta fight aim 9l and r60s
