There should be hard tier borders in the matchmaker. So basically split the tech tree into 3 eras, WW2, Cold war and Modern
So for example The WW2 era ends at 7.3~/rank 4~. So the WW2 top tier is stuff like T29, Maus, IS-3.
The Cold war era is stuff from Rank 5/7.7~ with stuff like M47, IS-4M, M48, AMX30 to Rank 6~/10.7~ with stuff like M1 abrams, t72, Leo 2a4.
Anything above is Modern Era.
I just realised that i could have said Historical matchmaking.
But heres the twist, the eras are hard seperated, so I cant see M60s in my IS-3 for example. So 7.3 becomes the WW2 Top tier. And 7.7 is the Cold war Low tier. but no vehicles from either era can see each other (provided i dont mix them in my lineup then the WW2 vehicle gets pulled into cold war).

Also this could be pretty great for air RB to seperate Misssile Vehicles from planer without flares.

Yes, there would be top vehicles. Of course balancing it properly would be necessary.
Id say its comparale to another tank game which we wont mention cus i dont know how the mods would like that.

Adding more perma-up/downtiers is not a good idea.
People already dont like playing the vehicles 1.0br below top tier.
And do you actually plan on dividing by era? Im sure you must realize that doing so would kill a number of vehicles.

Another post where someone wants Russia to be OP in cold war.
Vehicles shouldn’t be made impossible to play in War Thunder because of nonsense.
Vehicles should always be based on their technological capabilities, not the time they were put into IRL service [which would make Maus cold war anyway, or non-playable].
Thats why its just an idea, no need to be salty about it. Yes i understand that it would make some vehicles very strong. And yes i agree vehicles should be balanced by capability. Thats why im asking for opinions.
I think there shouldnt be stuff like that added to the mm.
The current system works. The issue is gaijin not using it enough to fully balance stuff out.
