Gun Depression

Anyone else notice that the gun depressions are not realistic, which surprises me for a company that prides itself on realism. Should a tank with 20 degrees not be twice as capable on slopes against a tank with 10 degrees? Why are the 10 degree tanks able to see me first (I realize the location on the turret matters too but is there anything else?).

Thanks for getting back to me and for the links. I was hoping to have an interesting discussion but even though this topic was opened just a few hours ago, I cannot reply. How can we contribute to improving the game if we cannot respond or clarify? And so, I will simply edit the original post with examples:

Take for instance the Ikv 103 which has 16 degrees of gun depression. I have often noticed that a Sherman with 10 degrees can observe you at about the same time. Also, the Chi-To at 10 degrees will consistently out-perform most anything at 10+ degrees of gun depression. Just some thoughts. I don’t think its a bug and was just wondering if others have had some experiences like this. Most likely the relative specs are simply off. Thanks for whatever help you can give.

They see you first because they use ULQ where the extra terrain layers doesn’t render or they got used to it and are shooting without fully seeing you.
A few years ago, it was possible to disable this extra layer of terrain by lowering the terrain quality to low, but it seems it’s no longer the case

If you believe that the gun depression on a vehicle is wrong then report it on the CBR. You can bug report it here (just search a bit first so that you don’t report something that is already reported and known about): (Gaijin.net // Issues)

A guide on how to report bugs can be found here: ([Navigation] Technical Knowledge Base | War Thunder Wiki)

I don’t really know what else you’re trying to say here.

They are realistically re-created.
If you think different, please check previous post.
