Ground Vehicle Spawns - Pre-Battle Planning Phase

The idea is that at the start of Each Battle - There’s a 1 minute countdown where players can organise themselves within the confines of the spawn location.

Goal being to:

  • Alleviate the traffic jams that result from the random spawn location. Give the players a minute to assess their team’s composition.
  • Allow player made squads to form up.
  • Potentially incentivise random squads to form up.
  • Have the planning area be large enough that players can spread out get a good starting point to reach their desired location on the map.
  • Hopefully act as a buffer to give both teams the best chance at a fair and even start to the match (as opposed to traffic jams etc. causing queues which result in staggered and frustrated players slowly lurching into battle.

Using Hell Divers as an example, I think War Thunder might benefit from a pre-match plannning phase to allow certain players to mark the map, spam ‘attack the D point’ and make decisions based on how the team groups together. I don’t know that it’s a problem that needs fixing but on certain maps like Abandoned Factory and Fields of Normandy, both maps end up in a situation where an entire team will spawn and attack the A point, leaving 2-4 players to attack B and C. I know this in itself isn’t much of an issue but I’m hoping that it might allow for slightly more orgnanised meta’s to emerge which will benefit the player experience in general.

Did you ever play World in Conflict? A spawn system like that would be amazing in WT.

I have, I was actually thinking of Wargame when I had this idea. I am conscious of the fact that ideas that seem to make perfect sense in an RTS game where multiple units are organised by a single person, might not be as good in war thunder where the units being organised are all individuals.
