I am an older warthunder player , been here since the beta , I have seen the game evolve in different directions, some good, some bad.
Recently i’ve gotten more into mid-tier( that being 7.0 to 9.0 ) , and I have to say , it’s been fun, however what else i’ve noticed,in many many games i’ve had is a tendancy for players to just go for brrrt machines. What do I mean by that?Everyone mostly picks multi-utility APVs , rocket launchers or really fast tracked vehicles to get into a good position in the middle of the map before the heavier, slower tanks arrive, and just flank them.
Ground in these tiers have slowly become Arcade 2.0 .
‘‘But you are really squishy,a hit will just kill and light tank or wheeled vehicle’’ , you might say ,yes, but does it matter? You’ve made 3-4 + kills and you got killed ,that is to be expected.
Yes,i’m talking about the Bradley’s,the BMP’s , the M163’s , the AML-90’s and so on ,these tanks are multirole nowdays without having clear downsides(they get spotting, artilery) ,meanwhile a heavy armored tank can’t rotate it’s turret as fast as some of these vehicles, and in a tank vs plane or helicopter, a heavier player with a MG will just do less ,meanwhile a bradley can just shoot that helicopter with it’s main gun. Yes their roles are different, but those tanks feel way too versatile and multirole for what they were intended for originially. In the case of the bradley and the BMP they were IFV’s ,nothing more .
Does gaijin think a game is more fun if it’s fast paced? Does it trigger the right neurons and dopamine? I tried it yeah it’s fun, but the game becomes too mindless, just get to the usual positions and flank the enemy. First one that gets to the points wins.
As for a solution,I think classifying these kinds of vehicles as ‘special’ vehicles and making it for example, only 4 of them can be active at any given moment in the team will reduce this rush effect , without stopping the players taking one later in the game.
These kinds of vehicles were used more for support , not to be the gamemakers, but it seems that gaijin is going in a different direction.
