I’m curious about why you think that?
Genuinely I always found CAS to be the most-anti fun mechanic in WT.
Think about it, imagine classic ARB/AAB but the moment someone has a ace, he can spawn in a satellite above the map and laser you to death without any counter play.
Is that good gameplay, is that balanced, is that fun?
Even the argument about Heavies doesn’t make sense for me:
A player look at the map, spot a nice spot, play correctly and he should be punished for that with no way off countering? Why?
At least below 7.0 the game is more or less designed like this:
Heavy have good armor and gun but terrible mobility.
Light have no armor but ether have insane gun (Nashorn) or excellent mobility (M18).
Medium are jack of all trade.
Realistically those class should balanced themselves, a heavy in a good spot can be taken out by a flaking light tank or by a glass canon. and medium can exploit weakspot, flank, or use the classic CBT.
Currently, CAS is at best a bandaid to bad map design:
- Player that play correctly to use the nice spot get punished with no counter play.
- Players that die from the first are no happy because they died and could do much apart from trying to snipe the barrel.
- CAS get a free kill with no risk and can go harass the rest of the players not using heavies right after.
tldr:
Heavy camping a spot: Some counterplay is possible
CAS: No counterplay (at least directly, CAS require you respawning)
Result → Heavy camping is more tolerable than CAS, because you know that If you reacted earlier, aimed better, ect you could have survived.

I think CAS adds a good element of variability and uncertainty to the game
realistically the biggest ‘problem’ with cas is that it means you have to rely on your team to counter it for you
they should massively increase the reward for shooting down planes and maybe even add lead indicators back for SPAA
because presumably in a game with better map design that spot might not even exist because its neigh impossible to counter, they arent necessarily being punished for it, but without killing them there might be no chance for the enemy to win, and generally the longer and more tense a game is the more rewarding it is to win, hence why top tier sucks, because its always just a 50/50 your team gets slaughtered or the enemy team gets slaughtered
