Here is a image of one (funny enough warthunder might have beat DCS on this)
But there useful outside of emergencies keep the sortie rate up.
I find it funny people don’t want to rearm faster by stopping faster.

You could just touchdown after the arrestor gear area.
Its such a my lobster is to juicy may steak is to buttery issue.
The point is not that it gets added - which is completely fine by me - the point is that as it is currently described or how we can interpert it at the moment, it will be automatically happening as soon as you a) have a aircraft equipped with a hook (which can be dedicated carrier aircraft or a majority of NATO aircraft which use this csble arrestor system instead of barriers for emergencies) and b) your gear is down.
No additional key is mentioned, so I assume that every time I will land any of these aircraft in question, I will be forced to do a cable arrested emergency landing, which is just absolutely unrealistic and immersion killing - and also unnecessary.
and looks wierd too. Having the hook down on something like a Tornado when on approach to a runway without cause
Oh nooo, they’re going to update more maps, goodbye to FPS because of the extremely bad optimization of the trees.
The most powerful weapon even added to War Thunder
The arrestor zones are arranged quite a bit behind the touchdown zones, so can’t really evade them.
Also, why should I deviate from a realistic landing procedure to get around an unrealistic* feature?
(* unrealistic if forced upon players. It’s completely fine if it’s optional…)
Easily fixed if they reintroduce the large variant, instead of that middle version they have now
I think this is one of the few cases where, with each passing year, the game looks a little better, but performs much worse. It’s a blatant case of being a showcase for the public, something very nice but a shame when you actually use it.
Yeah… I have a lot of issues with Gaijin and War thunder in general. but their optimisation was usually always quite solid, Id usually always get some the highest FPS out of War Thunder. Recent updates have made that drop off quite a bit. Its now average
arrestor gear looks cool and hopefully no more belly landing
I have an RX6700XT and I’ve been playing for years at practically 165fps all the time (with the occasional drop). A few years ago, the game started to experience momentary drops to around 145fps, but after the map updates, the FPS dropped to an average of 130-150. However, as soon as I aim at a wooded area or am near trees, the FPS drops from 140 to 80, 70, and even 65, making the game choppy and very unsmooth.
I think the developers decided to sacrifice optimization just to make the game look a bit better, and thus attract people with its visual appeal, not because it’s actually good or bad.
no idea how ur fps is dropping mine has been going higher w each major, from 70fps up to 130fps in the last few updates
Haha, same here :D
Thats around my average too, though ive not dropped that low personally, at least that ive noticed.
Though ive got my settings tuned more towards air and naval being maxed graphics, and not ground
Higher quality maps in ground, require more resources.
Air and Naval have been fairly steady though
I practically always get 165 FPS in the air.
My graphics settings are maxed out except for SSAA, and I have FSR enabled.
Another thing I don’t understand is that if you choose the upscaling option, the game looks blurry, so I have to put it on native.
What CPU do you have ?
ryzen 5 5600x
Im at 180 ish in air with everything maxed except cloud quality on ground and terrain displacement qualtity. Ive also got the render ranges down a little too.
DX12, FSR3 frame gen and SSAA set to 4x
Same here
