Ground Assault: skipping waves

The last time it occured, Smin1080 or any other big thing like that provided us a typical Gaijin justification such as “Realism… bla bla bla”, than, they said “It’s a bug” and remove it.

I think they tried to implement it again and check the reaction, or the forum staff have no idea what they were talking about.

I open a bug report here : Community Bug Reporting System

I’d prefer it roll out of rotation altogether, or change the area you have to defend so 3 waves aren’t spawning above you

the last minipatch seems to have fixed the floating trenches but everything else is still the same, the bottom left spawn is an absolute pain to deal with still

I dont count the waves as much because the waves are often hidden by my screen info now.

But Ardennes map is glitched - the berms (even though hardly useful on that map) are 15 feet up in the air.

I’m not sure whether this is a bug or on purpose. If Gaijin really wanted to help Ground Assault players, they could cut two waves with the heaviest of four tank classes for this BR/map combo, not one second and one third-rank. Or maybe move the player respawns to safer locations, or give them some cover. Respawning at Mozdok early in a wave is very painful.

Or, one of my personal peeves, they could add some sense into how the bot aircraft are picking targets. I always find it weird when I’m farthest away from where they spawn, and both hit me with their rockets. They’re flying past everybody just to give me special attention, when they have nine others to pester.

Apparently the bots are programmed to attack the easiest and/or most dangerous players.

  • even if you are farthest player on the map and other players are shooting at the bots, the entire squad will target you if you show your back
  • every time I get into a decent flank position, the bot CAS will target me. Every time.
  • If I get to use CAS myself, it’s 100% guaranteed my tank will be a burning wreck when I return. Revenge Bombing - who’d-a-thunk?
  • allowing the shooting of bombs HUGELY favors the bots because … they never miss

If not for the idea being so stupid, I’d say that the bots have it in for me. (I know they don’t, but it sure looks that way.)

I get hit by them no matter what. Not yet having a single shot fired? I get hit. Being far away? I get hit. Being close? I get hit. On some occasions I get hit in consecutive waves, or twice in just one wave, and I have a video snippet from Mozdok with six bot planes in the air and five of them unload their rockets on me within about 20 seconds. Don’t ask me how just one of those five actually hit, and that damaged only the tracks, but they managed.

Actually I’d expect the bot aircraft to go after SPAA first and foremost, but they rarely do. Nasty-minded people might think that the programming of the bots factors in the rampant score-padding, people spawning SPAAs just to hit squishy tanks but ignoring the aircraft. (Also not correct, again it just looks that way sometimes. It does make me smile, though, when one of the padders gets blown up by the very aircraft they ignored.)

I’ve lost count of the number of players that enter Assault with spaa and don’t fire 1 shot at the bot CAS. And I’m excluding ZSU-57-2 in this (even though I actually take out some bot CAS when entering assault mode with it).

It’s the same people who have trouble understanding that winning an Assault match gives a 100% bonus on SL and RP, which is a lot more than they get from score-padding in a defeat. I have twice lost matches when my score was over 8000 points (137 and 143 kills), and for that I got about 16K SL plus the 50% premium bonus - with a win it would have been near 50K.

Somebody with a score of 2500 or less, a defeat, and at least 4 deaths (blowing up own tanks to swap), I don’t see how that gives much more than 5K SL, if that much.
