Not the same amount anymore, it’s not sixteen spice 250’s and six brims, only eight spice and six brims because the targeting pod issue.
technically , but not the fun amount
also nerfed BOL
Holy skill issue
I personally believe the R-Darter should be added to the Swedish gripen. the issue isn’t really with the gripen itself, but rather that the AMRAAM doesn’t fit the current air RB meta.
Radars are broken for everyone it seems like. So not necessarily a Gripen issue.
The targeting pod and SPICE thing was due to the models clipping into each other so the dev’s assumed incompatibility. In the JAS39E thread we’re looking at reporting that as they have modeled the pylon for the targeting pod vertical when IRL it’s angled outwards a bit.
This is true. Tho irl it carries micas, i think they should have given micas instead of amraams.
The Gripen is compatible with all current NATO equipment, that includes the MICA, however, SAAB does not officially advertise or mention the MICA in any documentation. All that is known is that the Swedish air force once test fired MICA from a Gripen C. Gaijin could add the MICA in theory since the technical feasibility is there, but I highly doubt they would. (Also just saying, Gripen NG and Gripen E are technically the same plane, NG is short for “Next Generation” and was merely the name used to advertise the E. What some people probably mean is the fact that since 2021 the, at the time not yet in full production, Gripen E got a new Wing design which is indeed missing and should imo be adjusted in game, especially since the ingame paintjob is based on the Gripen with the number “6002” which has been spotted more than once to have the updated wings)
pray they fix and readd them
i actually cant believe they missed all this, why would they even add the gripen NG and not E? And they could have atleast added both with an “early” version, this shows how little they really care
You say that, but i have yet to see any images or any proof of the E version having MICAS mounted.
I would like to see twin pylons added to the E Gripen.
Not really correct. NG is the umbrella term for the entire project that lead to the E. There are several NG planes one of which is even a JAS39D that was modified and used to prototype test components.
It’s been seen with both versions of the wing, so technically the DEV’s can choose which one they want. but i’m hoping for the new one :)
They didn’t. The 6002 is the second production E version built with the “finalized” E design (only the extended wing has changed since then i think).
Perhaps this hints at a future implementation of the full E-Gripen (current model).
they also added another front wheel to it
Did they? Haven’t the E all got one single front wheel?
Let me rephrase it: irl, it is capable of carrying micas. And in game it would have made more sense to add micas as gripens are known for being agile dogfighters. We might be all pointing out the inaccurate parts of it but what made the plane so underwhelming is to give it aim-120s which are better at longer range instead of higher G shorter range fox3s. It just doesn’t fit into its gameplay.
16x fnf weapons lmfao. How did this even pass into live
The Eurofighter with Captor-E (at least, the British one which I have) has similar radar capabilities as the Gripen E’s radar.
Maybe it’s my experience of using ESA’s or just generally scanning “everywhere” before deducing it “won’t detect anything half the time” but it seems like you haven’t had enough time to get used to the plane first before being able to actually give an informed verdict on the jet.
I’d like to think the fact that it can carry 16 SPICE 250s alone (you don’t really need the targeting pod) makes it quite the strong jet, in Air SB or Ground RB/SB. You also have brimstones which you can also carry alongside the SPICEs (iirc only 8 now; even with the full 16 which is bonkers you could quite literally take out most ground vehicles yourself with 2-3 left for Brimstones).
Also, for whatever balancing reason Gaijin also gave Gripen E AIM-120C-5, despite the only other AMRAAM it (or rather, all Gripen in Swedish service) used besides RB 99 (which is AMRAAM B) is AIM-120C-8 (or AIM-120D; also confusingly designated RB 99 lol)
All in all… it’s early days still. From my POV as a Typhoon AESA owner… it’s a baby version of this. It can be good, however any complaints about its radar is moot since all ESA radars are a bit wonky at the minute. Also the J-10A comparison is just wild.
