A modernish tank at rank 3
Uhm… good for you?
If historical BRs were a thing, then that poor thing would fight the Abrams.
instead it fights WW2 tanks …clever right ?
It could still side pen one, which is how it would be used. That gun is no joke, one of my favorite AP guns in the game, BR for BR. You can pen pretty much anything you will face and often one shot. I don’t know what it is but it’s damn good, plus you have mobility.
I really enjoy it, my favorite British vehicle for daily grinding. Also quite uptierable. It’s situationally better than the puma but I’d still take the puma over it for most scenarios.
It can be 50 caled and has terrible postpen. Enjoy!
It’s not awful, but it does rock way to much when you’re firing. Other than avoiding US tanks with their ghost of General Patton manning those roof top .50 cals, it’s not a bad vehicle.
Looking at your grind so far, you’ll need to unlock some other vehicles at similar BR to use it effectively. Or at least have a decent CAS vehicle if your playing realistic, and scout everyone you see.
What is your point? There’s plenty of “modernish” vehicles at mid ranks.
I mean its literally just a cut up Saracen with a 77mm plonked in a turret on it, the vehicle doesnt have anything technologically beyond the late 40s, and even then, thats just if you want to reeeeeally push it.
So like, yeah? It is clever to put it at a lower BR bracket similar to its technological capacity.
It does, its a 17pdr that moves at silly speeds. Not something they had in WW2 was it?
Eddie I love ya but you got to let this one go dude. It’s fine where it is. There’s bigger fish to fry my friend!
I’m not that bothered bro but the game gets 7/10 instead of the 9/10 it could so easily get, that’s all : )
To be honest the Saracen would not have been anywhere near as painful, truly British and not so bright white : )
like 1979 and more
Ok so…?
Vehicles are placed in Rank and BR dependent upon ability, not necessarily the date they were put in service.
That is cool ,then give us Brits APHE and roof mounted MGs as we aren’t doing history or realism in any way.
I’ll take a nice fast reverse speed for the Comet as well so I can undo my tactical errors caused by my glasses steaming up at inopportune moments. Serves me right for drinking tea while playing but as we are not doing realism i’ll take the artificial buff for the sake of game play : )
Concept 3? Silly speeds? Erm? Not the words I would put on it myself, I personally am not a fan of the platform, much rather bring the AEC event car myself. Concept is like what, under 15 hp/t? I mean its mobile, but silly speeds is a bit much imo.
And again, its literally just a saracen with a 77mm put on it, its not got anything from beyond the 40s tech wise.
Nothing moved a 17pdr around the battlefield in WW2 at 50mph ,which the 77mm pretty much was.The Comets top speed was 30 and that was considered quite nimble. The Concept 3 must be the most memed fast tank on Youtube so you might be on your own there with your opinion.
Bear in mind you are talking about a game where the forum nerds are breaking the official secrets act to prove armour was one mil thicker in the game than it actually was in reality and there is a huge cry over depleted uranium.
So when exactly is realism or detail important and when is it not…just so I know.
Serves me right for drinking tea while playing but as we are not doing realism i’ll take the artificial buff for the sake of game play : )
I don’t have glasses and I drink a lot of tea. This breaks my heart Eddie.
Back to the Concept 3, lets say nobody knew when the vehicle was developed and we had to surmise.
It’s got the 77HV from a Comet and a hull remeniscent of a Puma, it’s a WW2 vehicle in the same respects that a Tog II* the T-35 and the Mk.1 Valiant are WW1 tanks. The slightly scaled down 17pndr ammo also takes a significant penalty in penetration and angled performance. I liken it to the performance of the US 76mm guns on the upgraded sherman, but without the HE filler. (Checked the ballistic charts, might as well be the same shell, would need to check in game to to see the different behaviours vs angled plates)
It also might be my memoery failing, remembering the stock grind more than the finished product but the Puma and Pak Puma that I have considerable experience in are much faster, and more stable as firing platforms. The Concept 3 is definitely faster than most tanks but I’ve been out pacing them in T-34’s at 4.0 (Cross country, not on roads)
It’s a prototype for the Rooikat, but the concept to me remains a WW2 tank that was developed after the war ended.
A recap on what we know for sure, The 77 was arguably a better gun than the 17pdr ,the breach made up for the shorter shell ,same tip, higher velocity maybe at shorter ranges, who knows, but that is by the by and all for a nerdy debate I’m not interested in having as its all on the net anyway.
I think its actually about game play.We still have so many in game wondering how the hell they got hit so hard early on. Well that will be post war speed in a WW2 game essentially. There is always that feeling you get when you are smashed by the post war time traveler. Maybe I cant define it.Its not a feeling of being outclassed by a better player, more a feeling of being cheated.
It certainly baffled me early on.I think you sense an out of time vehicle because you get that WTF feeling if you play often enough at a certain BR and I took my time with this game, partially because I had no modern top tier destination and partially to get better as a player as I was struggling on the old Xbox.
Despite what many say I think post war vehicles dont fit the play style inmany cases, same as being wiped out in a plane by a 70s SPAA, always a case of What? Where? How? Sure enough you wait and you see its some post war pile of doof that shouldn’t even be in the game if it was any kind of realistic war game with any kind of immersion factor.
Can I live with all? Well I have to don’t I ? We all do .Do I like it ? No. Does anybody care ? Like all things many do and many don’t. I don’t think its all tea and cake with the concept 3 you have to be good with it and the maps are not exactly made for sniping now days are they?
We do have the the Puma with similar irritant factor at a lower BR but that does not bring anything that wasn’t WW2 into a WW2 canon, it’s irritating but has no grounds for the serious post war hate the concept 3 brings.
To somebody with a high level of understanding as you seem to have I can only say that its more about introducing a completely different doctrine to the game that is noticeable when playing huge amounts of solely WW2 level tanks. The ASU 57 was another WTF type vehicle, that stood out for me, again getting hit so hard so ,soon by something largely unseen and again proving to be very much a post war vehicle in doctrine terms. WW2 armies would have killed to move a gun that powerful around so quickly and so inconspicuously. Can you imagine the if the Russian’s had of had the ASU 57 in 1943?
Maybe a big section of the community are over thinking it all but which sections of the community do we chose to bow to and which sections do we choose to ignore?
With passion comes spending and who has it most, tank buffs or random kids with a passing interest ? Anyway we may be getting off topic not that I really know what the OP meant any way.
If historical BR’s were a thing they wouldn’t be BR’s, and there would be 50 Concept 3’s for each Abrams
